No one at home loves unboxing new clothes, gadgets, and trinkets more than I do. It’s my favorite pastime—honestly, the most therapeutic part of most of my days.
It was all fun and games until I couldn’t walk around my room anymore. It should’ve been easy to say that I needed to declutter, but I just can’t let some stuff go. That’s when I realized I needed a lot more space than ever—somewhere safe and trackable.
After some research, I found reliable storage spaces in San Diego. If you want to ensure your valuables are protected from dust and heat (and even people), check out my top picks below.
How much do storage spaces cost in San Diego?
Storage spaces in San Diego typically cost between $22 and $700 per month. However, this amount depends on size, location, climate control, accessibility, seasonality, and any additional fees.
1. Golden Triangle Self Storage

Address: 10345 Sorrento Valley Rd
Contact Details:
- +1 858 333 7243
- +1 858 247 0848
Business Hours:
- Mon-Fri: 9:00 am – 7:00 pm
- Sat-Sun: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm
Golden Triangle Self Storage offers the highest percentage of exterior drive-up units in San Diego. For me, this makes loading and unloading easier than many competitors.
I like that they provide a free move-in truck with driver and gas included. Another thing worth noting is their unique 1st-year price guarantee, which locks in rates for new renters’ first year on month-to-month leases.
More specifically, their services include standard self-storage units ranging from 5×5 to 10×35, climate-controlled units, and RV or boat parking.
Conveniently, the team also gives a free truck for moving in, 24-hour camera surveillance, and gated 7-day access from 6 am to 10 pm.
If you want to give them a try, the units start at $80 per month for small spaces, which aligns with standard San Diego self-storage rates for basic units.
As part of the San Diego self-storage family since 1972, this company has built its reputation with over 20 locations nationwide. We believe this scale enables them to focus on community involvement, such as donations and volunteering.
Just note that live staff monitoring is limited and ends at 7 pm (weekdays) and 6 pm (weekends). You can also visit your unit any day of the week, but within their set hours, usually from 6 am.
Their rates are solid for the 12-month guarantee
“Greg is absolutely great, their rates are solid for the 12 month guarantee I switched from extra space storage and I am so glad I did”
– Kate O’Leary, Google Review
Super helpful, easy, and friendly service
“Greg, Alicia and Amber were super helpful in getting us a storage unit! Super easy and friendly service. The storage unit was very clean.”

2. Morena Storage

Address: 908 Sherman St
Contact Details: +1 619 737 1934
Business Hours: Daily: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm
Morena Storage is part of US Storage Centers, a large network with over 100 locations nationwide. Service-wise, they offer standard units from 5×5 to larger. There are truck rental options to further streamline logistics.
And since they have climate-controlled units, you can rely on them to properly store sensitive items like electronics or artwork from San Diego’s humidity changes.
Moreover, the crew provides 24-hour access via a kiosk and same-day service. I believe these set them apart from smaller independents that lack quick-response support.
Their small units start at around $114 per month, rising to over $200 after increases. These rates are standard for San Diego, but keep in mind that their frequent increases can be higher than locked-rate competitors.
Still, other value-adds include auto-pay convenience, an elevator for wheelchair access, hand carts, and a loading dock. They are quite flexible on month-to-month terms, including short- and long-term contracts.
Helpful, knowledgeable, and kind
“Tamara and Javonna and the team at Morena Storage are terrific! They are helpful, knowledgeable, kind, and assist in problem solving and finding solutions. Really helpful and kind people who are great at their jobs and make your life easier.”
– Michael Burton, Google Review
The most affordable storage unit I found in the area
“Javonna is extremely helpful and friendly. She goes out of her way to help people get the best service. This facility is the most affordable that I found after researching virtually every other storage unit in the area. The leasing and move-in was very smooth and we are very pleased with our experience.”

3. Pacific Highway Storage

Address: 4350 Pacific Hwy
Contact Details: +1 619 291 0367
Business Hours:
- Mon-Sat: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm
- Sun: 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
Pacific Highway Storage shines with its free moving truck and driver to your home and back. For me, this rare perk is unmatched by most San Diego storage providers—ideal for urgent needs such as quick apartment evictions.
Independently owned since around 2012, they focus on climate-controlled indoor units (25 to 390 sq ft), wine storage, packing supplies, and optional truck and driver rental.
Units start at $112 for small 5×5 spaces, which is pretty standard for the city’s mid-tier range. Still, adding extras like wine options can push fees to the higher end.
Even so, I still think their aggressive promos can offset this. The team typically offers the first month free or 50% off.
But during peak moves, there may be longer wait times for the carts. This caused a brief delay for one of the clients I spoke with.
Super clean, fair, and amazing
“Super clean facility, fair monthly rates, and amazing service! Elizabeth has been amazing!”
– Jordan Rolle, Google Review

4. ACE Self Storage

Address: 7988 Miramar Rd
Contact Details: +1 858 294 0151
Business Hours:
- Mon-Fri: 7:00 am – 6:00 pm
- Sat-Sun: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
ACE Self Storage is a family-owned company with over 30 years in the business since 1985. They have been operating in multiple locations, but this Miramar branch is their newest to serve northern San Diego.
I believe they outperform the others with their stress-free online bill pay across all sites. They also offer 7-day access at no extra cost and a wide selection of units, from 5×5 to 10×30.
They might not have flashy tech, but I appreciate that the crew emphasizes their clean, secure mini-warehouse style.
Fees range from $15 to $39 for promotional offers, while regular fees are around $100. These rates are still within the city area’s standard range, where demand typically keeps rates mid-range.
The only drawback for me is that their northeast location adds a 20- to 30-minute drive if you are coming from central San Diego or farther away. We believe this is worth considering if you are also looking to save on gas.
Clean, safe, and well-maintained
“I rented the storage unit. It’s clean, safe, well-maintained. The staff are helpful, friendly, and able to meet customers’ needs. Highly recommended.”
– Richard Lam, Google Review
They have very good rates and often have promotions
“I have used their service for the past two years. They have very good rates and they often have promotions. Their price is the cheapest I could find in San Diego. David the manager there is very helpful to work with me to get the deals. Thank you so much, David ! I highly recommend their service.”

5. StorQuest Self Storage

Address: 1040 Sherman St
Contact Details: +1 619 494 1916
Business Hours:
- Mon-Sat: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm
- Sun: 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
StorQuest Self Storage highlights that “your stuff matters” with their 24-hour kiosks for anytime rentals and advanced digital surveillance.
This company is part of a national chain with consistent tech across sites, unlike other local independents. I also appreciate that their chain-wide experience focuses on flexible life changes, such as helping with moves abroad.
Adding to their secure measures are the electronic gates and auto-pay process. In my view, these features can provide people with significant peace of mind.
You can also reserve in several ways, including by phone, at a kiosk, or online. I believe this makes it easy for anyone to set up their units quickly.
Clients will need a proper quote. However, their small units start at standard city rates of around $44 per month (promotional cost).
One thing, though: being part of a chain can make their operations feel a bit impersonal. While still professional, their staff interactions are strictly limited to office hours, and the few clients we talked to couldn’t name any standout helpers.
Always meets our needs and is very well-maintained
“Great experience, it always meets our needs and is very well maintained. This is our second time renting here. Carla was very helpful and made the process very smooth and easy”
– AJ Gaming123, Google Review
Extremely attentive, helpful, and polite person
“Omar Manzo, manager of your Sherman location in San Diego, is an extremely attentive, helpful and polite person. We have been tenants since 2011 and he has been the most professional employee we have had the pleasure of dealing with.”
