Sometimes it’s not a hard fall or collision. It’s one routine sprint, and suddenly something pulls. Padres All-Star Jackson Merrill learned that firsthand when a hamstring strain sidelined him before rehab brought him back.
Because of that, the story feels familiar. Hamstring pain and lingering back issues affect athletes and normal people alike. That’s exactly why those searching for physiotherapists in San Diego are usually looking for real answers, not shortcuts.
Whether you’re bouncing back from an injury or simply trying to move without discomfort, the right physiotherapist can change your experience.
So, we looked closely at clinics that prioritize outcomes over hype. Explore our list for those who help San Diego locals recover with confidence.
How much does a physiotherapist charge in San Diego?

Operating Hours:
- Monday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

If you’re looking for a genuine one-on-one service, Advanced Physical Therapy & Wellness is worth knowing about. From the start, every session is handled by a licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy, which keeps the care focused and personal.
Because of that, they take time to assess how your whole body moves, allowing them to address the root cause of pain rather than simply easing symptoms.
Beyond general rehab, they also work with runners to optimize running gait. This means analyzing stride, foot strike, and alignment to reduce stress and prevent injuries.
On top of that, they treat conditions such as sciatica and back pain and support post-surgical recovery. All this while offering free Targeted Relief and Total Body Diagnostic sessions to provide clarity before committing.
Just note that this clinic is best for those seeking long-term results, not for quick fixes. Their approach is not built for rushed visits or insurance-only care.
When extra time makes all the difference
“We are so impressed with Dr Myro and everyone at advanced wellness PT. My daughter came in with a sprained ankle from soccer, I was blown away by how much time they spent with Malia. They helped mobilize her ankle and gave her exercises to help. Really extraordinary customer service and overall experience. I would definitely recommend this clinic!!”

From lingering pain to full mobility again
“I hurt my neck and was in pain for several weeks before I saw Dr. Owen. After a couple days of working with him I felt so much better and regained my mobility. I’ve been seeing him for a couple months now and all the pain is gone and I have gained so much more mobility in my neck, as well as improvement in some other areas of concern. It’s been an amazing experience and I look forward to continuing working with him! Highly recommended!”

Longevity Physical Therapy is one of those places you mention when a friend says they want to feel stronger and move better.
At the core of their philosophy is the idea of maximizing the youth you have in you today, and that mindset shows in how thoughtfully care is delivered.
From start to finish, sessions are guided entirely by a Doctor of Physical Therapy without handoffs. This keeps treatment focused and consistent.
Because of this, they are able to use Applied Functional Science to study how your body actually moves in everyday life. This includes walking, reaching, or running, rather than just testing one muscle at a time.
They are also especially strong in vestibular rehabilitation, balance training, and fall prevention. They have even worked extensively with high school and professional athletes.
We also appreciate how they support weekend warriors and age-group athletes who want to improve power or confidence while reducing injury risk.
However, this clinic is best suited for people who want to actively participate in their recovery, rather than those seeking a passive, hands-off experience.
Care that feels professional and genuinely personal
“The staff at Longevity Physical Therapy are exceptionally helpful and maintain outstanding communication throughout the entire process. The facility is clean, modern, and well maintained, creating a comfortable environment for recovery. My physical therapist is highly knowledgeable and demonstrates a genuine passion for their work, ensuring each session is both effective and personalized. I truly appreciate the level of care and professionalism this team provides and would highly recommend Longevity Physical Therapy to anyone seeking quality rehabilitation and long-term wellness.”

Relief when possible, honesty when it’s not
“Longevity is a wonderful place where you can get your body right after an injury from work or accident. My therapist was Kelly Remus. She’s really smart and very intuitive; knew exactly where to push/press to relieve pain and pressure, and gave me exercises and stretches to do at home as well. I had to stop therapy with them only because I wasn’t getting significantly better. My problem is arthritis in my shoulders and hands. My doctor finally recommended radiation (X-Ray) therapy to reduce the inflammation before returning PT. I’ll definite go back to Longevity and Kelly after, but for now, LDRT (look it up) is really helping!”

Select Physical Therapy covers a lot of ground, which is immediately noticeable for people dealing with pain, injury, or movement issues.
They focus on helping patients regain mobility and return to everyday activities through individualized treatment plans tailored to personal goals. Sports medicine is a major strength, with injury prevention and return-to-performance programs that support active adults and athletes.
Beyond general physiotherapy, they provide several specialized services in one place.
These include certified hand therapy with custom orthotics. They also offer the CoreVia Pelvic Health program for pelvic floor conditions across ages and genders, along with return-to-work programs focused on conditioning and ergonomic support.
They also offer techniques such as manual therapy, joint mobilization, blood flow restriction, and headache treatment.
Their strong ties with professional and amateur sports organizations add credibility, demonstrating trust at the highest levels of competition.
On a practical note, their website makes scheduling and payments easy.
The only downside is that, as a larger clinic network, care can feel more structured than at smaller practices.
A place where comfort and trust come first
“I was treated by Nicole and Sophie, who are both incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely care about their patients. They always made me feel comfortable and supported, and I could talk to them about anything. I’m so grateful for the care they provided! The front desk staff are also always friendly and organized. I definitely recommend this clinic!”

Small movements but with a big process
“I ended up here after a finger surgery through work comp. Melissa is the bomb dot com. She pushed me to get my finger moving and patiently supported my progress (and initial lack of strength). Everyone here from the front desk to other staff are all excellent. Can’t recommend them enough!”

4. Pro+Kinetix Physical Therapy & Performance

Address: 180 Broadway, Suite B100A, CA 92101
Contact Details: +1 619-354-7036
Operating Hours:
- Tuesday-Friday: 6:00 AM – 8:00 PM
- Saturday-Sunday, Monday: 6:00 AM – 8:00 PM
If you’re someone who wants to stay active while actually fixing what’s causing the pain, Pro+Kinetix Physical Therapy & Performance is worth a closer look.
Their approach is centered on movement and clear goals, helping people get back to without immediately turning to surgery or pain medication.
One thing we really like is their structured “Return To” programs, including Return To Running, Return To The Gym, and Return To Sport.
They also offer a well-designed postpartum return-to-activity program that helps women ease back into workouts safely after pregnancy.
Sessions are a full hour and one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy, keeping care focused and unrushed.
They even blend rehab with performance through sports training, virtual PT, and medical fitness coaching.
However, this performance-driven style may feel like more commitment than a traditional clinic, especially if you’re only looking for basic care.
Getting life back faster than expected
“I came to see Dr. Kyle after suffering from low back pain for several weeks. I tried to follow self guided exercises on Youtube to no avail but after just a few sessions with Dr. Kyle my pain was gone and I was able to return to the playing tennis and my normal quality of life. Dr. Kyle was exceptionally professional, observant and communicative. He was very clear in his instructions for the exercises to do at home and our sessions at the clinic always left me feeling much better. Working with Dr. Kyle saved me weeks more of pain trying to figure out how to help myself and gave me my quality of life back very quickly.”

Training stronger by finally fixing the root cause
“I’ve been doing distance running for awhile and have had consistent hip pain after long runs during previous training blocks. I’m currently training for a marathon and wanted to try something different to figure out why I was having pain and prevent potential injury. Since my initial assessment, I’ve loved working with Cidney at Pro+Kinetix. She takes her time to listen to how I’m feeling and structures the programming specific to my needs and goals. I have had significantly less pain to almost no pain during my marathon training and feel a lot stronger. The only thing I’m doing differently is working with Cidney. I look forward to every session with her and learning how to better move my body for improved athletic performance. I would definitely recommend Pro+Kinetix, especially Cidney, to anyone looking to stay healthy and strong without pain.”

Operating Hours:

My sister received pregnancy care at THRIVE Physical Therapy, which is what first caught our attention. From there, it became clear that their movement-centered and whole-body approach is what really sets them apart.
However, this approach may feel like more involvement than someone used to a more passive treatment approach is accustomed to. Care focuses on helping people move better and stay active, using hands-on bodywork and activity-specific strength training.
One of their biggest strengths is pelvic health, pregnancy, and postpartum care. Many people don’t even realize physiotherapy can address these concerns.
They support clients through birth preparation, postpartum recovery, and pelvic concerns in a way that feels supportive and approachable.
Beyond that, THRIVE is also a solid option for athletes and runners, including dancers, CrossFit athletes, and endurance movers. They offer sport-specific care to build confidence and reduce injury risk.
Meeting you where you are and helping you move forward
“Dr. Lauren is the kind of practitioner that you hope to encounter and work with. She is thoughtful, empathic, knowledgeable, and has realistic expectations. She meets you where you are and finds a way for you to succeed. She understands the body, for many different injuries and areas of focus. I have seen her for a sprain ankle, post-partum recovery, C-section scar massage, and back spasms. She is responsive and genuinely wants to see her patients get better. I highly recommend Dr. Lauren (or anyone at Thrive) if you want to feel better in your body and move without pain.”

Healing feels easier in the right hands
“Welcoming, warm, and experts in their field, I highly recommend going to Thrive physical therapy. I have had the pleasure of working with Dr. Lauren, Dr. Aaron, and Dr. Rowena for various concerns over the past couple of years, and each has been amazing in equipping me to care for and heal my body. Big shout out to Jori who sets the scene for the fun and inviting atmosphere and has been incredibly patient in scheduling around my work schedule. Thank you Thrive Team!”
