Stay Cool on the Road with the 5 Best Auto Window Tinting in San Diego

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Film Quality: We checked whether each shop uses premium materials like ceramic or nanocarbon films instead of basic dyed options. High-end films usually offer better heat rejection and ultraviolet (UV) protection.

Installation Expertise: A great tint job depends heavily on the technician applying it. We focused on shops with proven experience, especially for vehicles with large glass panels or tricky curves.

Customer Convenience: Waiting around for car work can be annoying. That’s why we looked at turnaround times, scheduling flexibility, and waiting room amenities. Shops with mobile service or same-day availability scored higher.

Warranty and Value: A tint job should not start bubbling or peeling shortly after installation. We prioritized businesses that stand behind their work with clear material and labor warranties.

Driving in Southern California means dealing with relentless sunshine. That’s why finding the best auto window tinting in San Diego can make your daily commute a lot more comfortable.

Whether you want more privacy or a cleaner finish, a good tint job does more than change how your car looks. The right film can help keep the cabin cooler, protect your interior from fading, and make long drives easier on your eyes.

To make the search easier, we looked into local shops in San Diego that stand out for film quality, installation skill, convenience, and warranty support. Here are the best ones we found!

How much does auto window tinting cost in San Diego?

Service TypeEstimated Cost Range

Premium Ceramic / SUV Tint$600 – $800+

Hours: Monday-Saturday, 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM

Getting a sleek, heat-blocking finish is a lot easier when the team has more than two decades of experience behind it. San Diego Auto Glass & Tint works with premium films like 3M Crystalline and is especially known for careful Tesla installations.

I had my brother’s Model 3 tinted here recently, and the crew handled the large glass roof without making the appointment feel like an all-day project.

They also handle paint protection film (PPF) and ceramic coating, which is helpful if you want several upgrades in one visit.

The process is pretty hands-off: you drop off the keys, get the work done, and leave with lifetime warranty coverage.

The only real headache is the Autoport Mall parking lot, which can feel crowded during drop-off.

Pros

  • 3M Certified premium films
  • Specialized Tesla expertise
  • Lifetime warranty coverage
  • Decades of local experience

Cons

  • Congested mall parking lot
  • Longer appointment wait times

Best tint shop in San Diego!

Just got my windows tinted at San Diego Auto Glass & Tint. Super happy with the completed project. I had 3M Ceramic Infrared (IR) installed all around and Crystalline on the windshield. Thank you guys for taking care of me from scheduling the appointment all the way to the finished results. Will definitely refer all my friends and family to this shop.

Highly recommend San Diego Auto Glass & Tint

Highly recommend San Diego Auto Glass & Tint. Got a PPF wrap on the hood, ceramic coating on the entire body, and tint. Danny and the team did a great job. I couldn’t even see the wrap on the car.

2. Tint World

Address: 5812 Miramar Road

Hours: Monday-Saturday, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Finding a shop that handles multiple vehicle upgrades at once can save a lot of back-and-forth. Tint World works like a full auto styling stop, combining ultra-premium window films, detailing, and paint protection services under one roof.

Their customer-focused process includes flexible financing, efficient digital quotes, and a waiting lounge with free Wi-Fi. This makes a longer appointment feel more manageable.

We also like that you can pair tinting with protective work if your car needs a bigger refresh.

The downside is consistency after installation. Some customers have mentioned lingering bubbles that required a return visit, and the wider service menu means the experience may vary depending on what you book.

For convenience and fast turnaround, though, it is still a strong pick.

Pros

  • Top-tier SunTek Ceramic options
  • Efficient digital quoting
  • Fast service turnaround
  • Multiple styling services available

Cons

  • Potential post-installation bubbles
  • Mixed secondary service quality

Jimmy knows the technology inside out

I have been coming here for years for their great products and services. Jimmy is super awesome and knows the technology inside out. This is my first time tinting the front windshield. What a difference it made. Highly recommended.

Couldn’t be happier with the final result

Had a great experience with Tint World. Staff was super helpful and professional. Owner and staff even took extra steps to make sure everything was completely clean and sterile during the unfortunate and uncertain time of the current pandemic to maintain everyone’s safety. Tinted the windshield of my Audi, which came out flawless. Couldn’t be happier with the final result and overall experience. Will be a repeat customer for sure.

3. Cali Tint

Address: 7933 Silverton Ave Suite 702

Contact: +1 (619) 581-3374

Hours: Monday-Saturday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Skipping the waiting room entirely is a major perk for busy commuters, and Cali Tint makes that possible with a fully equipped mobile service. They also offer fast in-shop appointments if you would rather bring the car to their Silverton Avenue location.

One of our coworkers used their mobile unit last month and had a premium ceramic package installed while we were stuck in a morning meeting.

That kind of convenience is hard to beat, especially when the pricing is posted clearly enough to avoid awkward surprises.

Their heat-rejection films are also a good match for the San Diego sun, and the turnaround times are quick.

The tradeoff is that the shop’s industrial park location can make parking tight. The service menu is more streamlined than that of larger auto styling centers.

Pros

  • Convenient mobile service option
  • Premium ceramic heat rejection
  • Transparent upfront pricing
  • Fast completion times

Cons

  • Tight industrial lot parking
  • Limited specialized security films

High quality tint

I rated Cali Tint with five stars because of the high quality tint. Maria and her team are very knowledgeable and helped me find what tinting option was best for me. Customer service was great, and she treated me with respect. Would highly recommend to anyone that does not know about tints or just wants a quality job on their car. The price is very low compared to other places. My new Tesla Model Y is looking classic after all. Thank you, Maria.

Tint looks to be great and without issues

Tint job took place under an hour for all four driver and passenger windows. Very reasonable price. I am reviewing a few weeks after the job, and the tint looks to be great and without issues. Will recommend.

4. California Auto Salon

Address: 6670 Miramar Road Suite A

Contact: (858) 225-2826 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday-Saturday, 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Cheap dyed film can look fine at first, but it usually does not do well against heat. California Auto Salon leans into higher-end materials like XPEL film, which makes it a better fit for drivers who care about performance and appearance.

The shop also handles wraps, paint protection, basic mechanic work, and even U-Haul rentals. That’s why the shop feels more like a one-stop automotive hub than a tint-only garage.

We also appreciate the military discounts and flexible installment plans, especially for larger packages.

Scheduling is the part that may frustrate some people. They open later than many competitors and stay closed on Sundays, which is not ideal for a standard weekday schedule.

The Miramar lot can also get congested, but the quality of the tint work keeps this shop worth considering.

Pros

  • High-end XPEL film installation
  • Flexible Snap Finance plans
  • Recognized local authority status
  • Military tax-free discounts

Cons

  • Congested lot with ticket risks
  • Limited late-morning operating hours

Chris did an amazing job

They did my Tesla Model Y window tint with XPEL ceramic, and I am very happy with the great service. Chris did an amazing job installing the tint, and it looks perfect. Alex was full of information and very friendly. I would recommend California Auto Salon to everyone.

Upgraded my tint at no extra charge

They ran out of the ceramic tint they were going to use on my car. Instead of making me wait, they upgraded my tint at no extra charge! They do great work and will get you in and out. Great service. For the customer. For the troops. Couldn’t ask for anyone better to tint my car!

5. SD Auto Style

Website: https://sdautostyle.com/

Address: 367 15th St, San Diego

Contact: +1 (619) 354-0464

Hours: Monday-Saturday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM

SD Auto Style is a good fit if you want help staying within California visibility rules while still getting a clean, custom look. The team promotes street-legal installations and uses ceramic tint technology designed to block harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays.

Their over 15 years of hands-on auto styling experience show in the way they handle custom designs, shatter protection, and scratch-resistant films.

Same-day scheduling is another practical advantage if you need the work done quickly before a commute or road trip.

The shop’s main drawback is location. It sits in the busy East Village, where traffic can be tight and street parking is limited.

Larger sport utility vehicles (SUVs) may also be less convenient to maneuver around the area, so planning your drop-off helps.

Pros

  • Advanced ceramic particle technology
  • Guaranteed street-legal applications
  • Convenient same-day scheduling
  • Over 15 years of experience

Cons

  • Tricky downtown street parking
  • Tight traffic around the shop
  • Limited space for oversized SUVs

Great bundle price, professionalism, and quick service

I knew from the time I bought this car I would need to tint those windows, windshield, and moonroof! Also, a ceramic coating was a must to prevent any little damage or rock chips on the paint. After looking around for a good bundle price, professionalism, and quick service, I found SD Auto Style. I owe a big thank you to Mike from SD Auto Style for making my Tesla look extra clean with the ceramic coating and full tinting service. Highly recommend!

The setting was professional

I recently came across an ad for SD Auto Style on Instagram and decided to give it a try. Upon arrival, I was immediately greeted by one of the staff members. I requested windshield tinting, which they were able to accomplish promptly. Mike demonstrated expertise in car customization and offered his informed opinion. The setting was professional, and I highly recommend SD Auto Style.
