5 Best Bike Shops in San Diego for Quality Gears and Fast Repairs

bike-shops-in-san-diego
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Service Range: I prioritized shops that offer more than just bike sales because I wanted places that can support you long-term. This includes repairs, tune-ups, fittings, and a solid range of parts and accessories.

Staff Knowledge and Guidance: I focused on shops where staff actually explain things clearly, so I looked for places that truly guide you.

Quality of Bikes and Parts: I chose shops that carry reliable brands and durable components.

Repair and Maintenance Support: I considered places known for consistent service, proper workmanship, and reasonable turnaround times.

Buying a bike sounds simple until the ride does not feel right. A poor fit, the wrong setup, or early repair issues can turn something exciting into a headache fast.

I actually learned that firsthand when my brother chose a bike too quickly and dealt with comfort issues not long after.

That experience showed me how much the right bike shops in San Diego matter. The best ones do more than sell bikes. They help you find the right fit and make sure everything runs the way it should.

To save you the trouble, I looked into the shops riders consistently trust and narrowed it down to five worth checking out.

How much do bike shops in San Diego charge for repairs?

Bike shops in San Diego charge around $300 to $1,500+ for standard repairs, while high-end or specialty models can go beyond $3,000. However, prices might still vary depending on the bike type, quality of parts, and level of service.

Moment Bicycles stood out to me for getting one of the biggest things right—fit. I noticed how its dynamic bike fitting focuses on comfort, power, and efficiency, which can completely change how a bike feels after just a few adjustments.

From there, everything else falls into place. The shop carries a wide range of bikes, from entry-level options around $300 to high-end models that can exceed $3,000, making it suitable for different budgets.

I found strong options across road, mountain, and triathlon bikes, which makes it easier to match the right bike to your riding style.

Repairs are another strong point. Experienced mechanics handle everything from basic tune-ups to more complex rebuilds, so ongoing maintenance feels covered.

Rentals are also available, including premium bikes, which I find useful if you want to test before committing. But the problem is that pricing can lean higher. Nonetheless, financing of up to 18 months helps make higher-end bikes more manageable.

With a 4.9 rating from nearly 700 reviews and active support for local cycling and triathlon communities, it clearly builds trust.

Pros

  • Advanced bike fitting
  • Skilled mechanics for tune-ups and complex repairs
  • Premium rentals for test rides
  • Provides up to 18 months of financing
  • 4.9 rating from nearly 700 reviews
  • Supports local cycling and triathlon communities

Cons

  • High pricing

Great selection with helpful staff

“I dropped by to get a inspection on my bicycle and found that they had a great selection of bicycles and accessories. The staff is very helpful and informative to my needs. I’m definitely coming back to tune up or do and upgrades on my bicycle needs. A recommend for anyone looking for a solid bicycle shop.”

Professional and knowledgeable staff

“We were visiting US from Europe and were biking across West Coast. While in San Diego we came across Moment Bicycles where every staff member we encountered was professional, knowledgable, respectful and kind. We were serviced quickly and efficiently. I wish I knew the names of the people we met that day in the shop. A stop worth remembering. I highly recommend service at Moment Bicycles.”

If you’re leaning into an efficient shop that offers a 24-hour service turnaround, Trek Bicycle is hard to overlook. I like that most repairs are completed within a day, even without an appointment, which makes a big difference if you rely on your bike regularly.

Another advantage is that the shop services all bike brands, not just Trek. That matters if you already own a different bike and need reliable repairs.

They also carry a strong lineup in one place, including hybrid and electric bikes, and brands like Electra, Bontrager, and Trek Travel.

Beyond that, the overall process feels streamlined. I found helpful extras like home delivery, service pickup, and free accessory installation. Shopping also feels easier because you can filter bikes by age, height, and collection.

Additionally, the 30-day return policy and price match guarantee provide reassurance. Financing at 0% APR, along with a complimentary tune-up within 12 months, also helps make higher-end bikes more affordable.

The Ride Club app also adds value by helping track progress, explore local routes, and follow turn-by-turn directions.

However, the strong focus on Trek products may limit variety for those looking for more niche brands.

Pros

  • 24-hour repair turnaround
  • Services all bike brands
  • Carries hybrid, electric, and kids’ bikes
  • Free accessory installation
  • 30-day return policy
  • Offers 0% APR financing
  • Free tune-up within 12 months

Cons

  • Limited niche brand options

Top-notch service with great attention to detail

“Took in my mid 2000s road bike and had a top-notch experience!! Marisol had such great attention to detail as she assessed the fixes and maintenance needed for my bike and also helped me find the right accessories and advised on good bike maintenance. When I picked up the bike, it was totally revived – Kevin did an excellent job fixing it up. Also, Jordan was helpful advising on bike fit. Everyone that I met here was super knowledgeable and friendly!”

Went beyond the call of duty

“Oliver and the team at trek San Diego went beyond the call of duty for me. I flew from Florida to race the Ironman 70.3 La Quinta. My bike did not did not fair well on the flight and I needed an aero bar pad set. I called trek in a panic.  They had the piece in stock and FedExed over night to me. If you are looking for amazing bikes and superior customer service please give the a visit.”

Since opening in 1992, Bicycle Warehouse has grown into a multi-location shop across San Diego, with over 205,500 bikes sold to date.

I like how the selection covers nearly everything, including mountain, commuter, and e-bikes, making it suitable whether you’re just starting or upgrading. The range feels practical and accessible, especially if you’re looking for something reliable.

In a way, browsing here reminds me of the variety you’d expect in something like go-karting, with different styles and setups depending on what kind of ride you’re after.

What I also like is the one-stop setup. You can handle bike purchases, parts, accessories, and repairs in one place without jumping between stores.

The online platform also makes it easier to browse ahead before visiting, which helps narrow down choices. On top of that, there are extras like a 25% off first purchase offer. HSA or FSA payment options and a trade-in program add more flexibility when buying.

With brands like Schwalbe, SRAM, and Maxxis available, along with clothing and gear, the selection feels complete.

One thing to note, though, is that their selection focuses more on popular and easy-to-find brands like Cannondale and Aventon. That is not necessarily a bad thing, especially for everyday riders, but it may feel limiting for cyclists looking for custom builds.

Pros

  • Wide selection for different riders
  • Multi-location presence in San Diego
  • Over 205,500 bikes sold over 30+ years
  • 25% off first purchase
  • Accepts HSA or FSA payments
  • Trade-in program
  • Carries trusted brands

Cons

  • Limited options for cyclists

Impressive shop

“I bought some shoes online and there was some confusion about the pricing, (not a big deal just took a bit of time), Rob could of been a prick about it and not called me to let me know the order was ready but instead he called which is more then I expect most would do. I got to store and the selection of parts, bikes, accessories was massive. This shop is impressive and the people employed stand obviously do the right thing by customers. I would recommend this place to anyone, online or in person.”

Enthusiastic service that builds trust

“I’ve had great experiences with Bicycle Warehouse in the past and my most recent visit was no different! I was looking to get a new road bike, called up the Pacific Beach location to confirm physical inventory of the one I was interested in, and spoke with Jeff. From the phone to meeting in store, Jeff and the other staff did a great job taking care of me. Jeff in particular exuded joy and enthusiasm for cycling and made doubly sure I was paired with the right bike and essential supplies; it’s the folks like him that earn my continued trust and business.”

For those looking for a bike shop that offers more flexibility and personalization, San Diego Cyclery is worth considering.

Instead of just choosing from what’s available, I like that you can build or customize a bike that actually fits your needs.

The selection covers a wide range, including beach cruisers, BMX, and road bikes. It works well whether you ride casually or are getting more serious.

Repairs feel more straightforward because the shop offers free and no-obligation estimates before any work begins. Service packages start at about $60 for basic checks and go up to around $420 for full overhauls. This helps set clear expectations upfront.

Rentals and guided tours are another plus, especially if you want to explore San Diego without committing to a purchase.

Free local pickup makes ordering more convenient if you prefer to browse online first, then pick up in-store. Beyond bicycles and electric bicycles, there’s also a solid range of apparel and accessories, so you can complete everything in one place.

However, inventory may be more limited compared to larger shops.

Pros

  • Custom bike builds
  • Carries beach cruisers, BMX, and road bikes
  • Free and no-obligation repair estimates
  • Reliable bike rentals and guided tours
  • Free local pickup

Cons

  • Limited inventory

Bikes are top-notch

“We collaborated with this colorful PB Bike Shop for a bike ride with a clients visiting SD. The bikes are top notch, a lot nicer than other bike rentals we have done over the years!  Dan and Nick were great to work with. They are also next to a tasty Acai shop and a block from the ocean!”

I never once felt rushed

“i recently purchased my very first road bike through SDC. The first time i went in i knew nothing about road bikes, Dan warmly greeted me and proceeded to spend the next hour and a half walking me through every part of the bike, recommended accessories, maintenance and answered every question i had. He even took me on a test ride to make sure i liked what i was buying. When the bike was ready for pick up, Chris worked with me in the parking lot to make sure that it was fully set up to my liking and went over any other questions i had. the customer service here is top notch, i never once felt rushed even when i was asking a million questions i would 100% recommend this shop to anyone and will definitely be returning for all future tune ups/purchases”

Pacific Beach Bike Shop focuses on beach cruisers, fixies, and e-bikes. Since opening in 2009, it has built its offerings around the Pacific Beach lifestyle.

Rentals start at around $25 per day, making it a convenient option for those who want a quick and easy ride without committing to a purchase.

The shop also offers customizable cruisers and fixies, allowing riders to personalize their setup without the complexity of high-end builds.

The only problem is that their focus on cruisers and casual bikes may limit options for those looking for more high-end models.

Still, I like that the shop works as a one-stop for bike sales, repairs, and accessories like helmets and baskets.

Services also range from full tune-ups to simple tube replacements. These are handled by a team led by owner Mark, with experienced mechanics Chris, Tory, and Spot each bringing their own specialized skill set to the shop.

With a 4.8 rating from over 300 reviews, the shop maintains a strong and consistent reputation.

Pros

  • Affordable daily rentals
  • Customizable cruisers and fixies
  • One-stop shop
  • Full tune-ups to tube replacements
  • Holds a 4.8 rating

Cons

  • Limited options for high-end models

Skilled mechanics with helpful recommendations

“I am so happy with PB Bike Shop!  Everybody here is nice and they are all skilled bike mechanics and have a lot of common sense about recommending repairs or service that is needed and helpful.  Just roday my bike after they adjusted the gears and it is back in top form!”

Extra work done with no labor charge

“ook my bike in they had to remove my surf rack to lower the seat. Old bike everything’s corroded. Took them over an hour to put everything back together and replace the broken screws. Didn’t charge anything for labor. Super nice. Always friendly. Highly recommend.”
