1. Mission Hills Venue

Website:https://www.missionhillsvenue.com/
Address: 1919 San Diego Ave. San Diego, CA 92110
Contact: 858-293-8120 | [email protected]
Hours: Monday to Thursday, 7 AM–10 PM; Friday to Saturday, 7 AM–12 AM; Sunday, 7 AM–10 PM
Finding a venue you can fully customize is rare, but Mission Hills Venue is designed as exactly that kind of blank canvas. With a 3,600-square-foot modern interior, natural light, and wide city views, it gives you the flexibility to shape the space around your event’s theme and layout
One of its standout features is the open-vendor policy, which lets you choose your own catering, entertainment, and other vendors instead of being locked into packages.
It also includes a dedicated 200-square-foot outdoor space for food trucks. This adds a nice interactive element for guests. Its location near the airport and downtown makes it especially convenient for visitors coming in from out of town.
That said, the flexibility comes with added responsibility. Since it’s essentially an empty venue, you’ll need to handle most logistics, décor, and coordination yourself rather than relying on an all-inclusive setup.
There’s also a firm capacity cap of 200 standing guests, which requires careful guest list planning.

FEMX exceeded expectations with its generous space, creating a versatile environment for my daughter’s Sweet 16 party. The charming setup, adorned with market lights adds a delightful ambiance. It’s an easily accessible location coupled with excellent vendor recommendations that made the event setup and breakdown seamless.

Mission Hills Venue makes guest entertainment fairly easy without needing to hire a long list of extra vendors. It includes built-in recreational features like an arcade room with games such as Skee-Ball and air hockey.
We also love the flexible indoor-outdoor layout that’s supported by retractable doors. It helps the space flow naturally during events.
Budget control is another key advantage, since transparent pricing and the absence of corkage fees make it easier to plan without unexpected add-ons.
The venue also features a large 125-foot promenade deck with amphitheater-style seating, giving guests space to relax and socialize with skyline views.
Inside, the open layout makes it simple to add enhancements like photo booth rentals or other interactive setups without feeling crowded.
However, you’re restricted to using only their required catering vendors, which limits your cuisine choices.
The venue is also located in a professional building. That’s why it’s mostly available for private events during evenings and weekends rather than mid-week afternoon parties.

The venue was spectacular with amazing views of beautiful San Diego! There was so much to offer, unlike any other venue I had ever been to and I loved all the different areas/ spaces that made all our guests feel so comfortable and even more so – have the BEST time! From the outdoor ampitheatre, beautiful balconies on opposing sides, gorgeous views (indoor and outdoor), and games!

Sports fans and anyone who enjoys a great view will immediately notice the direct sightline into Petco Park from Ultimate Skybox at DiamondView Tower. It even has a spacious 15th-floor outdoor terrace!
Inside, floor-to-ceiling windows wrap around the modern space, filling it with natural light throughout daytime events.
One of the key conveniences is that professional event management support is included through Creative Affairs Inc., which helps take pressure off planning and coordination.
The venue itself also comes with built-in features like a glass fireplace and a large bar, which reduces the need for extra décor or rentals. Simple additions like floral centerpieces can also easily be arranged through local flower delivery services.
That said, the venue has a strict approved catering list, so outside food isn’t allowed.
Parking can also be challenging and expensive during Padres games, especially for guests unfamiliar with downtown traffic.
Customer Reviews
We’ve used this space twice to host events, and both times Cindy has been on top of everything and made my life incredibly simple to get everything ready. The space is gorgeous, the caterers have all been easy to work with, and I continue to love booking here.

This venue has the best view in San Diego! Our party was truly a hit with the Padres playing and all of the amenities offered. From the minute we inquired with the venue up until the last minute before we left, this place was top-notch. I am so impressed with how smooth everything went. The venders checked in multiple times throughout the party without interrupting or interfering. They genuinely cared that we had the best experience and it was so great to know they wanted us to have the best experience. 10/10!!!!

4. Sandbox VR

Website:https://sandboxvr.com/sandiego
Address: 1640 Camino Del Rio North, Suite 116 San Diego, CA 92108
Contact: 619-354-7087
Hours: MON – THU 10AM – 10PM; FRI – SUN 10AM – 11PM
Stepping into Sandbox VR feels more like entering a shared, fully interactive game world than a typical VR setup.
The experience uses full-body motion capture and precise tracking. This allows players to physically interact with each other inside immersive, group-based games created by experienced developers.
I recently went for a birthday session, and the tracking accuracy made a noticeable difference. It was especially helpful in reducing the motion sickness that sometimes comes with standard VR headsets.
Beyond the gameplay itself, the venue also offers private lounges and AV setups, which makes it easy to handle small celebrations like cutting a cake after the session. Groups also receive mixed-reality video recordings afterward, which serve as a fun recap of the experience.
Each room only accommodates up to six players, though, so larger groups have to split into separate sessions.
They also enforce a strict five-minute grace period, which can create issues if guests arrive late due to traffic or delays.

5. K1 Speed San Diego

Address: 1709 MAIN ST., SAN DIEGO, CA 92113

Hours: MON-THU: 12:00PM – 10:00PM; FRI: 12:00PM – 12:00AM; SAT: 10:00AM – 12:00AM; SUN: 10:00AM – 10:00PM
If you’re after high-speed competition in a controlled setting, K1 Speed San Diego might be right up your alley.
They offer an indoor racing experience with electric karts that can reach speeds of up to 45 miles per hour. What’s great is that the electric setup also keeps the air clean, so the entire facility is free from exhaust fumes.
Beyond the track, they also offer a full restaurant-style space called the Paddock Lounge. This allows groups to eat and relax between races instead of relying on typical concession stand options.
For parties, they provide structured group packages where you can race in heats, compete for positions, and even finish with a podium ceremony and medals for winners. Booking a group of eight or more can also give your party exclusive track time during your heats.
Just note that sessions are separated by age groups, so kids and adults can’t race together. There are also strict height requirements that may prevent younger participants from joining at all.
Customer Reviews
My first time to do this very fast electric go cart racing. It was my son’s 54th birthday and it was free for him and reasonably priced for me. It definitely wasn’t a cruise, because you’re goto get passed very quickly. Instructions were great and staff very friendly. I’m going to do this again for my 80th birthday on September 29th for FREE.👍

The whole experience was great! My son’s friend’s birthday party ran very smoothly. The boys (10 yrs old) had a great time. Communication with the mom and guests went smoothly. Easy check in. Courteous staff. Food was served and was hot and pretty good for bulk party food. Plenty of parking too! Went on Dec. 23rd so it was not crowded at all. Plenty of room for all the guests.
