When you’re already in a panic, finding reliable computer repair in San Diego can feel like a chore. How can you make a sound decision when you’re already worried about high prices, lost files, or slow turnaround times.
To help you out, I spent time digging into the local repair scene to find technicians who actually know their stuff.
Whether you’re a student at San Diego State University (SDSU), a local business owner, or someone who needs a PC back in working order, these spots are worth checking out!

1. SD Computer Repair

Website:http://www.sdcr.us/
Address: 7710 Balboa Ave Suite 309
Contact: (858) 366-3266
Hours: Monday-Friday, 10:30 AM – 6:00 PM; Saturday, 10:30 AM – 3:00 PM
If you’ve ever spilled a latte on your MacBook, you know the absolute terror of a dead logic board. SD Computer Repair at Balboa Avenue is a go-to for high-stress repairs because they handle component-level work that many shops won’t touch.
They’re especially useful for DC power jacks and motherboard repairs, which can sometimes save you from replacing the whole machine. I also like that they offer free diagnostics and exact quotes before opening the device.
Their “no fix, no pay” policy for water damage takes some risk off your plate, too.
Just be aware that walk-ins can face a wait during busy afternoon periods, and the weekend schedule is limited, so call ahead to secure your visit.

Went above and beyond
I can’t thank Sam enough for his incredible work! He went above and beyond and made sure my MacBook was working perfectly. There was an issue with a part I ordered, and he made sure I knew. Apple quoted me $800, but SD Computer Repair finished it for a fraction of that price.

2. Derrell’s Computer Repair Services

Website:http://www.derrellrepairs.com/
Areas served: San Diego
Contact: (619) 567-9586
Hours: Monday-Tuesday and Thursday-Friday, 9:00 AM – 11:00 PM, by appointment only; Wednesday, 9:00 AM – 4:59 PM and 8:31 PM – 11:00 PM, by appointment only; Sunday, remote support and general inquiries
Finding a tech who answers the phone after dark isn’t easy, so Derrell’s late appointment hours are a real standout.
I’d especially consider him for small-business support because his Digital Shield plan focuses on proactive network monitoring and ongoing protection.
It’s worth noting that he’s also known for sending progress reports within a few hours, which helps when you’re anxious about a laptop, desktop, or data issue.
The one-on-one virtual coaching is another nice touch if you want to understand minor tech problems instead of just handing everything off.
On the downside, his work is strictly by appointment, and the split Wednesday schedule can be tricky if you need immediate hands-on help.

3. SD Bytes Computer Repair

Website:https://www.sdbytes.com/
Address: 10433 Friars Road, Suite B
Contact: (619) 546-7740
Hours: Monday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM; Tuesday-Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM; Saturday, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
SD Bytes has a practical neighborhood-shop feel, but the experience behind it is serious.
Owner Shannon Isselhardt brings more than 20 years of IT experience, and that background shows in the way the shop handles both regular repairs and business support.
The pickup and delivery option is helpful if you can’t make it to Friars Road, and their 30-day repair guarantee gives the work a little extra security.
I also like that they can help local businesses improve cybersecurity in San Diego, which matters more than ever for small teams.
The downside is cost for Apple users because Mac repairs have a higher flat rate than other PCs. Also, their Saturday hours are shorter than weekdays.
Customer Reviews
Impressed
I highly recommend SD Bytes for all of your computer repair needs. Their rates are extremely reasonable and the turnaround time was lightning fast. Shannon and Stanley were excellent to work with. Their knowledge and expertise with gaming computers was unsurpassed by other repair stores. I was impressed by the excellent customer service I received.

Good service
I was having trouble with my computer and took it to SD Bytes Computer Repair. Shannon, the owner, was so helpful and did not talk down to me because I know nothing about computers. He told me what he thought was wrong, fixed it, and later helped repair my Galaxy S7 phone too.

4. DC Computers

Website:https://www.dccomputerwarehouse.com/
Address: 1070 University Ave Suite J101,
Contact: (619) 255-4333
Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:30 AM – 6:30 PM; Saturday, 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM
If you’re a serious gamer, DC Computers feels like the kind of shop you keep bookmarked. Impressively, they’ve been around since 2009 and work on high-end workstations, gaming PCs, MacBooks, and everyday repair jobs.
I brought my own rig in once to ask about a low frames per second (FPS) issue, and I was impressed by how quickly they identified a thermal throttling problem.
Another thing I appreciate is that they use better battery parts for MacBooks instead of the cheaper replacements you see online. Plus, same-day repair may be available for walk-ins when parts are in stock, which is great in a pinch.
Just remember that expedited service costs extra, and Saturday hours are fairly limited.

Fast and efficient service! I brought my iMac in for a software issue. After installing the new operating system (OS), the wireless mouse and Wi-Fi connection would not work. The technician understood my needs and estimated a few days, but it was ready later that same day.

Extremely helpful
DC Computers is absolutely amazing! The customer service was great. My computer needed repairing immediately, and they did not hesitate. They were extremely helpful, saved documents that appeared unsaved, and charged me a reasonable price for the repair. I would definitely recommend them!

5. SD Laptops Repair Services

Website:https://sdlaptops.com/
Address: 4645 Cass Street, Suite 201A
Contact: (858) 864 3108
Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Located on Cass Street, SD Laptops Repair Services is a strong pick when your laptop screen, battery, or logic board needs attention quickly.
Their free estimates are helpful because you can decide whether the machine is worth fixing before committing to the job.
They also provide a 90-day warranty on parts and labor, which gives you more confidence after the repair. If your drive has failed, they can coordinate with data recovery experts in San Diego to help protect your files.
Their strengths are complex logic board work and liquid damage restoration, so they’re not just a basic screen-swap shop.
On the flip side, I found their flat-fee pricing quite high for minor fixes. They’re also closed on weekends, limiting your options if you have a strict 9-to-5.

Brand new condition
I broke my computer on a snowboarding trip. The machine is about five years old but still ran great. I took it to San Diego Laptop & Computer Repair on Monday. They had it back to me on Friday in brand new condition. The staff was overly helpful and informative.
