We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Treatment Variety: A good clinic should be able to handle multiple issues without sending you across town. We looked for clinics offering comprehensive services ranging from preventative care to complex procedures.

Financial Flexibility: Dental work is a significant investment, so accessible payment options matter. We prioritized practices offering in-house memberships or flexible financing plans.

Patient Comfort: Dental anxiety is a major barrier for many people seeking preventative care. We evaluated how each clinic creates a relaxing environment and whether they offer specialized sedation.

Advanced Technology: Modern equipment often means faster and less uncomfortable procedures for patients. We checked if the offices use tools like cone beam imaging, lasers, or digital scanners.

Maintaining your oral health is vital, but finding the right clinic can sometimes feel overwhelming. Whether you’re dealing with a sudden toothache or looking for a routine cleaning, you need a provider who makes you feel completely comfortable.

We know how stressful the dental chair can be, so we set out to find clinics that truly prioritize patient care.

By exploring various local options, we have narrowed down the top choices that cater to different needs and budgets.

If you’re searching for the best dentists in San Diego, this guide will help you find a welcoming professional.

Address: 450 A St #300

Contact: (619) 853-6655

Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Dealing with multiple oral health issues usually means driving to different specialists. Fifth Avenue Dental Arts handles almost everything under one roof, from a simple cleaning to complex implants.

We really like their focus on individualized care while still balancing dental health with aesthetics.

We spoke with a patient who recently had emergency work done here. She was surprised by their same-day relief options and the three-dimensional (3D) imaging they used.

They also make affordability easier with a membership plan for uninsured patients, which is helpful if you are trying to avoid surprise costs.

The clinic feels comfortable and polished, but the thorough approach does mean initial consultations can take nearly two hours. You will need to block out a good chunk of your schedule for that first visit.

Pros

  • Convenient free downtown parking
  • In-house 3D imaging and lasers
  • Flexible payment options
  • Oral sedation for anxiety

Cons

  • Lengthy initial consultations
  • No weekend availability

Made me feel comfortable

I’m a complete wreck when it comes to the dentist, but from the moment I walked in, Stephanie was incredibly helpful and pleasant. Fadi, the hygienist, made me feel comfortable and was extremely patient throughout my cleaning. Dr. Ghassemi was informative and a pleasure to speak with. Overall, it’s a great team, and I’d be happy to visit the office again.

The service was impeccable

I scheduled a next morning appointment as I was flying into town and my crown had fallen off. The staff were professional and welcoming. The service was impeccable and the office was very clean. If I lived in San Diego they would definitely be my dentist!

Address: 2780 Cardinal Rd Suite B

Contact: (858) 438-3665 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Nobody likes hearing the sound of a dental drill, so it’s a relief that New Smile Dentistry uses laser technology to handle fillings without the traditional noise.

They’re an all-in-one treatment center that also uses artificial intelligence (AI) diagnostics to improve accuracy, which can save you extra trips to outside specialists.

If you lack coverage, the membership plan gives you more predictable monthly rates and discounts on treatments.

We also like that they honor military members and families with dedicated care options, which feels practical in a city with a large military community.

The clinic is strong at accommodating walk-in emergencies, but a few operational delays can lead to unexpected lobby waits.

The office also uses noticeable air fresheners, which may bother patients who are sensitive to artificial scents.

Pros

  • Comprehensive in-house treatments
  • Solid uninsured membership discounts
  • Minimally invasive laser technology
  • Patient administrative staff

Cons

  • Occasional scheduling delays
  • Strong artificial scents

Welcomed by such a wonderful staff

Going to the dentist even an adult is never fun, however immediately when you walk in, you are welcomed by such a wonderful, friendly, caring staff. They got me scheduled quickly, addressed all of my concerns and scheduled what needed to be fixed. My husband is military, so we move often and this is definitely one of the best experiences I’ve had with a dentist.

Actually looking forward to going to the dentist

This was my first visit. I came in for a routine checkup. I was greeted by professional and friendly staff. The vibe was very welcoming. The staff was very attentive to any of my needs and questions. The doctor was very professional and informative about my treatment plan. I have to say I’m actually looking forward to going to the dentist for once in my life.

One of our researchers recently went in for a consultation and shared that the welcoming staff immediately helped calm her usual dental anxiety.

The team has over a century of combined experience. This allows them to handle everything from basic cleanings to advanced cosmetic procedures internally.

On top of that, Dr. Qadeer is an award-winning local dentist who also offers free consultations for major procedures like clear aligners.

The catch is scheduling, since they close early on Fridays and are fully closed on weekends.

  • Massive combined staff experience

Cons

Each visit feel personalized

I have been going to Mesa Dental for years because the staff here makes the extra effort. They remember individuals and make each visit feel personalized. I haven’t seen Amy for years and she remembered me from my very first visit! Her bright personality made my day today.

They did not make her wait too long

I took my mother here because she had a toothache. They were very friendly and did not even charge her, no matter how much my parents insisted on paying. They gave her a quick fix for now and told her what she will do in the future. Dr. Qadeer was polite and friendly, and they did not make her wait too long.

They specialize in biocompatible care and perform hypersensitivity testing to help ensure the materials used in treatment are safe for each patient.

The clinic also uses natural healing methods, including dental ozone therapy, along with modern scanners for more precise planning.

The environment is heavily focused on reducing anxiety. It has a spa-like setting and aromatherapy that can make visits feel less clinical.

Dr. Paige Woods handles a wide variety of treatments in-house, which helps cut down on referrals.

Just keep in mind that their hours are limited, and parking around the busy area can be frustrating.

  • Comprehensive under-one-roof services
  • Spa-like environment for anxiety

Cons

  • Highly limited operating hours

Friendly, great care is clearly a priority

This was my first visit to Brighton Dental and it will not be my last. The office was clean, comfortable and getting an appointment was easy. Every staff member I encountered was knowledgeable and cheerful. The x-rays were quick with state of the art equipment, and I appreciated the gentle hands of Liz. Friendly, great care is clearly a priority.

Very kind and understanding

I had a great first visit here at Brighton Dental! Everybody was nice: the front desk staff Dom and Maria, the dental assistant, and of course Dr. Woods. She was very kind and understanding and helped answer my questions. The office was very nice as well. Would recommend.

Traditional impression molds can be uncomfortable, but Coastal Dental Arts uses precise 3D scanners to map your mouth without the gooey mess.

They operate as a true all-in-one care facility, managing everything from routine cosmetic work to more complex oral surgery.

Their ethical approach is also notable. They’re backed by a Better Business Bureau (BBB) Torch Award nomination that points to their commitment to honest treatment.

We also like that the clinic keeps a judgment-free tone and takes time to explain each step, especially for patients who feel nervous about dental work.

They’re also known for starting appointments on time, which is a small detail that makes a visit feel less stressful.

While the downtown location is quite convenient, the traffic and paid garage parking can add a headache to the trip.

  • Low-stress and judgment-free care

Cons

My whole dental care experience has changed

My hygienist, Donia, has been instrumental in my dental health. She has suggested some remedies for my gum disease that have totally worked within two visits. My whole dental care experience has changed since I started using Dr. Choitner. Best of all, I can practice my putting in the waiting room!

Who looks forward to going to the dentist… I do!

Who looks forward to going to the dentist… I do! The team is very friendly and knowledgeable. It’s a very nice office with a warm atmosphere. They keep their appointments on time, so you’re not sitting in the waiting area for 15 or 20 minutes. Kimmie is the best!
