1. Revival Vintage Eyewear

Website: http://www.revivaleyewear.com/
Address: 3821 Ray St
Contact: (619) 907-8440
Hours: Monday-Saturday, 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM (second Tuesday of the month, 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM); Sunday, 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Revival Vintage Eyewear specializes in authentic, unworn frames made between the 1950s and the early 2000s. That makes it a real treat if you love fashion and want eyewear with actual history behind it.
The main appeal is the true deadstock selection, so you’re not just buying vintage-inspired frames. You’re getting original pieces that haven’t been worn before.
I stopped by recently to check out the collection and was blown away by the complimentary 30-minute personal styling session.
The on-site licensed opticians can even do same-day prescription lenses, which is genuinely helpful when you’re in a hurry. You can also customize your lenses with more than 35 non-prescription tints to make a pair feel completely your own.
The one trade-off is that the focus is entirely on vintage pieces. So you will not find modern smart glasses or the latest contemporary collections here, and the boutique keeps limited weekday hours.

Most unique eyewear store I’ve ever seen
This is the most unique Eyewear store I’ve ever seen. The coolest and most wild vintage frames and amazing customer service. They even custom cut me An extra set Of lenses for my favorite Gucci sunglasses while I waited And my wife shopped for a new pair of frames. Not to mention, the people are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Go check it out!

Is this the spectacle Shangri-La?
If you even sorta like eyewear (and definitely if you love it) you need to check out the collection they’ve pulled together. In fact, block out at least an hour for your visit, because you will want to time to pour through the racks. You’ll also want the time to chat with Jenna and the rad folks that work there. And if all that weren’t enough, they can get your Rx lenses in quickly and use your HSA $$.

2. LensCrafters

Website: https://local.lenscrafters.com/
Address: 1640 Camino Del Rio N, Ste 200
Contact: (619) 299-3113
Hours: Monday-Saturday, 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM; Sunday, 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM
LensCrafters pairs advanced digital eye exam technology with a big selection of popular designer frames. That setup is helpful when your schedule is packed because you can handle the exam and frame shopping in one easy trip.
After your checkup, you can browse mainstream brands like Ray-Ban, Oakley, and Prada without visiting a separate optical shop.
They also accept a wide range of vision insurance plans, including EyeMed and Aetna, which helps keep out-of-pocket costs down. If you want to spread out payments, there are flexible financing options like the CareCredit card.
Because it runs as a large corporate retail chain, though, you do miss the curated, intimate feel of an independent boutique. It can also get busy, so service may feel less personal during peak hours.

Helpful and customer friendly
Over the past 10yrs I have bought all my new glasses frames and lenses from lease crafters, and I can’t say enough about how helpful and customer friendly they are … and how they make the whole experience so easy. Then in just a few days you have your new eyewear or as I like to say “Art for your face“. Thank you again for the wonderful service and knowledge staff at this store.

3. Eyes On Fifth

Website: http://eyesonfifth.com/
Address: 228 Fifth Avenue
Contact: (619) 231-3937
Hours: Daily, 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
If you’re hunting for genuinely unique luxury brands, this historic Gaslamp Quarter staple is worth a stop.
Eyes On Fifth was created by third-generation optician Phil Harris, and the shop curates an eclectic collection with exclusive international names like Matsuda and Cazal.
A friend of mine recently picked up a pair from their SPEXWAX collection, which repurposes unplayable vinyl records into custom wearable frames, and they look stunning.
To nail the fit, the artisanal opticians run an old-school 20-point checklist for accuracy. Their decades of specialized experience really show during the fitting.
Just keep in mind that they carry high-end luxury and boutique designer brands only. So it may not be the right fit if you’re after an entry-level, budget option.

Great quality eyewear
Eyes on Fifth in the Gaslamp is amazing. Great quality eyewear. Phil Harris gets my lenses right every time for the past decade. I live 1000 miles away and haven’t found anybody better. I also get compliments on my sunglasses because they are gorgeous.

4. Urban Optiks Optometry

Website: https://www.uoosd.com/
Address: 3788 Park Blvd, Suite 5
Contact: (619) 683-2020
Hours: Monday-Tuesday and Thursday-Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM; Wednesday, 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM; Saturday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Urban Optiks Optometry makes glasses shopping feel more like a relaxed boutique visit than a standard optical appointment. The eco-friendly space is filled with live plants, which gives the frame-shopping experience a calmer and more thoughtful feel.
That design-focused setting matches the eyewear they carry. You’ll find handcrafted luxury frames from independent lines, including global brands like Ørgreen, so the selection feels more personal than mainstream.
The clinic also supports the style side with modern diagnostic eyecare. They handle comprehensive eye exams and specialized fittings for daily or toric contact lenses, making it useful if you want both fashion-forward frames and vision care in one visit.
It also makes sense why San Diego Magazine readers voted the shop Best Eyeglass Store.
One thing to plan around is the schedule. They close earlier on Saturdays and stay closed on Sundays, so weekend appointments can be tricky to grab.

5. Warby Parker UTC

Website: https://stores.warbyparker.com/
Address: 4465 La Jolla Village Dr, Suite H5
Contact: (619) 373-9412
Hours: Monday-Saturday, 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM; Sunday, 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Upgrading your daily frames doesn’t have to drain your wallet if you check out this modern, direct-to-consumer shop.
Warby Parker UTC is a welcoming retail space with custom local artwork and a transparent pricing model for complete pairs of glasses. Refreshing your look here is an easy confidence boost, a bit like the subtle lift you get from dermal fillers.
You can browse a huge selection of cool, in-house designed optical frames and sunglasses while using flexible spending account (FSA) funds or vision insurance. The whole process is straightforward and customer-friendly.
The catch is that they strictly carry their own proprietary brand. So if you prefer shopping outside luxury designer labels, you will need to look elsewhere.

Good customer service
I love this location and the people who work here. They know what looks best on your face, very patient and high frequencies service every time and I’ve been here for 3 consecutive months. I love Kati, Issac and Andres. There is one more person but I can’t recall his name.

Friendly and helpful
I went to Warby Parker after “losing” my sunglasses at my daughter’s wedding. As with my previous WP experience, the employees were friendly and helpful and I ordered a new pair. Naturally, the next day, my original sunglasses were found! I was nervous about being hassled when canceling the order, but they couldn’t have been more accommodating. Thanks for the great customer service; both in-store (Westfield UTC) and the customer service representative I spoke with who cancelled the order.
