San Diego Gastroenterology really stands out for their group-based approach, where doctors and specialists work together to handle everything from diagnosis to treatment.

They even have an in-house surgery center, so scheduling procedures is easier and less stressful.

A visiting family told us how smooth the coordination was between the doctors and surgeons during their evaluation. They also appreciated that the clinic has their own research department, so patients benefit from the latest medical advances.

Having all these resources in one place definitely adds peace of mind.

The only downside is you might not always see the same doctor each time, since the clinic uses a team model. Even so, most people agree the quality of care remains excellent.

Pros

  • In-house ambulatory surgery center
  • Clinical research department for new interventions
  • Coordination between subspecialists and surgeons
  • Specialized focus on chronic liver disease

Cons

  • Potential for seeing different physicians

Customer Reviews:

I felt safe and calm

My experience here has been great. I did have to wait a few months for the procedure. Everything I discussed with the doctor was documented accurately. On the day of the procedure, Dr. Dubois and the nurses supported me throughout, and I felt safe and calm.

You’ll not find a better place than this

I’ve been there for 2 procedures: a colonoscopy and an endoscopy and I must say that Doctress DuBois AND her entire crew are all Very professional and effective, while at the same they’ve not abandoned that Friendly & Neighborly Country Doctor overlay which naturally carries along with it a very welcoming warmth, an attention to personal details and an encouraging & disarming bedside manner that you just can’t help but love and trust.  If butt-doctorin’ is what you need, you’ll not find a better place than this, straight up!

Dr. Cainan H. Foltz is known for handling complex biliary and intestinal problems using specialized endoscopic procedures.

He uses advanced tools like endoscopic ultrasonography, which helps him get a clear view of any structural issues.

He also works within a larger medical group, which makes it easy for patients to get quick referrals to other specialists if needed.

One patient shared that their experience with him was incredibly smooth, and they felt well-informed about every step because the doctor includes diagnostic images directly in his treatment plans.

However, since his expertise is focused on more complicated cases, people looking for basic checkups or routine digestive care may end up being referred to someone else.

Contact: 858-392-8381

Hours:

  • Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Digestive health is often connected to other parts of your well-being, just like how visiting a good dental clinic can affect how you digest food. United Gastroenterologists really gets this by offering digestive care as part of a larger multi-specialty network.

Their team includes doctors with special training in interventional endoscopy, so they handle tough digestive problems with advanced procedures.

They also have their own on-site lab for quick test results, which means less waiting and faster answers. At the same time, they provide weight loss management programs for those who need extra support.

Their bilingual staff makes communication simple for patients from different backgrounds to get care.

But because they’re such a large clinic, managing paperwork and billing across departments can sometimes get complicated. It’s good to be prepared for a little extra patience at the front desk.

Pros

  • Fellowship-trained interventional endoscopy physicians
  • Comprehensive weight loss management programs
  • Bilingual physicians for diverse populations
  • In-house diagnostic laboratory testing

Cons

  • Large clinic; possible paperwork and billing delays

Great experience

I met with Liza to schedule a follow up endoscopy, and we talked about some digestive issues from my hormones being messed up after surgical menopause. Great experience, office staff was really nice, short wait time, I felt heard in my appointment. Looking forward to working with her and her staff going forward.

Taken care of in the best way

Very happy

I am very happy with my experience with Dr. Bortniker and his staff. They were very kind, caring, and so helpful. I really appreciate how much they looked out for me as a patient, “going above and beyond” to help care for me, as they welcome me into their practice. Dr. Bortniker is very knowledgeable and listened to my concerns. I appreciate that so much.
