1. Steamy Piggy

Website: https://www.steamypiggy.com/
Address: 4681 Convoy St
Contact: 858-492-0401
Hours:
- Sunday – Thursday: 11:00 AM – 9:30 PM
- Friday – Saturday: 11:00 AM – 10:30 PM
Steamy Piggy is the one to go to if you’re in the mood for something familiar, but still want a little twist. It takes the Chinese comfort food you already know and gives it a Korean and Japanese spin, so nothing feels too far off.
I actually went for their handmade chili wontons last week, and they had way more heat and flavor than I expected, in the best way.
While you’re here, the tonkotsu broth is something that you should try too. They simmer it for over 12 hours, and customers love how you can really taste how rich and creamy it gets without feeling heavy.
For big groups, you can order as much as you want and just share everything across the table, perfect if you want to try a bit of everything on the menu.
Just keep in mind that the restaurant does get busy. You might end up waiting a bit or dealing with slightly rushed service during peak hours.

The pork buns just melted in your mouth
This place is absolutely amazing. We had Kayla as our server and she was just helpful in every way. The pork buns just melted in your mouth and surprisingly the ramen bowls had so much flavor for a Chinese restaurant.

These types of restaurants are to look forward to
My girlfriend and I were craving for some Chinese food and found this vibey restaurant. Loving the scenery at first glance and we were greeted with a smile to our tables by Quy. As we ordered our food we made the mistake of ordering too much thinking it’ll be in small portions. We were quite wrong! Love the bulgogi chow mein and the spicy ramen along with the bulgogi fries. These types of restaurants are to look forward to.

2. Chin’s Szechwan – Point Loma

Website: https://www.govisitchins.com/
Address: 3373 Rosecrans St
Contact: 619-228-9386
Hours:
- Sunday – Thursday: 11:30 AM – 8:30 PM
- Friday – Saturday: 11:30 AM – 9:00 PM
Since 1976, Chin’s Szechwan has been earning multiple local awards for serving some of the best Chinese cuisine in the city.
That long history shows in how steady and consistent the experience feels, especially when it comes to their classic Szechuan-style dishes, which are clearly at the heart of the menu.
On top of that, they’re really mindful about allergens and dietary restrictions, so ordering doesn’t feel complicated, even when you’re dining in a big group.
However, some Szechuan dishes can come off a bit lighter on seasoning than expected. And while takeout is a convenient option, portions can feel a little small for the price.

A new Chinese restaurant to visit
Went here for lunch for the Lantern Festival (end of Chinese New Year). What a pleasant surprise. We have not had a favorite Chinese restaurant since our favorite closed many years ago.
Food was excellent. However, the service and atmosphere are outstanding. Presentation of items were totally unexpected and wonderful.
A pleasant excape into a real old fashioned Chinese restaurant.
The servings are big, but they gladly offer to box up what you cannot eat.
We finally have a new Chinese restaurant to visit.

Absolutely love these
Honestly, Chins is the only Chinese restaurant I go to because nothing else compares.
We started with crispy cream cheese wontons (absolutely love these) and egg flower soup. So good and the soup can be shared.
We got 2 of our usual entrees, the crispy pork and Szechwan green beans and decided to add something new, the spicy honey and sesame chicken. We got a 2 on a scale of 1-5. It had a little kick and was so good.
And of course the service and ambiance were wonderful as always!

3. Noodle & Bun

Website: https://www.noodlebun.com/
Address: 770 4th Ave
Contact: 619-356-3688
Hours:
- Monday – Friday: 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM
- Friday – Sunday: 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM
Noodle & Bun has this casual neighborhood kitchen vibe that makes it easy to just walk in and settle down without thinking too much.
Nothing here feels overdone, just simple, comforting food that’s made in a really straightforward way. You notice it most in the handmade noodles and steamed buns, made fresh daily with that “flour-to-table” approach you can actually taste in every bite.
A friend of mine stopped by recently for lunch and kept mentioning how the spices hit that familiar note, like classic Eastern flavors without going over the top.
Do take note, though, that some dishes may come out a little greasier than expected. Plus, service can slow down a bit during busy hours.

This place DELIVERED
Oh my goodness, one of THE best bowls of noodles I have had in a while. I’m Chinese and grew up eating home cooked meals so I’m super picky when it comes to authentic food and this place DELIVERED. Portions are HUGE. They don’t skimp out on protein or noodles. Authentic hand pull noodles (you can see the imperfection which I love and reminds me of how my grandparents made it). You can taste the love in a bowl of noodles. Highly recommend is an understatement. Also very friendly ppl and servers

This place is bomb
Delicious dumplings!! I am from the Bay area and I never find good Chinese food in San Diego this place is bomb! The service was excellent! It seems that the servers work as a team so as the orders come up whoever is closest and available grabs the order and takes it to the customer.
I really enjoyed the spicy wonton dumplings and the pork soup dumplings.
I have Dan Dan noodles in my fridge for dinner!
I will definitely be back it was fast affordable and fabulous

4. Diamond Palace

Hours:
- Sunday: 9:30 AM – 9:00 PM
- Monday – Friday: 10:00 AM – 9:00 PM
- Saturday: 9:30 AM – 9:00 PM
Diamond Palace is the kind of place you go to when you’re really hungry and want options, like a full spread where you can just keep adding dishes to the table.
The menu runs wide, from dim sum all the way to specialty roasted meats, so it’s easy to mix and match depending on what you’re in the mood for.
Their Cantonese barbecue is usually what people talk about most, especially the roasted duck and crispy pork belly that come out with that classic, rich flavor.
For those who love sharing, the smaller appetizers fit right in, turning the meal into a relaxed group setup where everyone just tries a bit of everything.
They’ve got online ordering too, so pickup and delivery are pretty convenient when you just want something easy at home.
The only catch is that their serving portions are quite small for the price.
Customer Reviews:
The dim sum has been consistently good
So far, I’ve been to Diamond Palace twice with friends, and the dim sum has been consistently good. It’s rare to find a Chinese restaurant serving dim sum in the Redwood Village / Oak Park of town. It’s been a nice break from driving to Convey to get my dim sum fix. I highly recommend especially when you have friends visiting from out of town.

Contact: 619-283-4180
Hours: Monday – Sunday: 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM
If you’re looking for a place that can handle big groups without feeling cramped, Minh Ky Restaurant is a pretty easy pick. It’s spacious and flexible, perfect for a quick solo meal as well as a full table of friends or family.
The menu sticks to classic Chinese dishes like chow mein and hearty hot pots, with a few modern touches mixed in, so it doesn’t feel repetitive. And don’t worry, you’ve got plenty of choices, so it’s easy to find something that actually fits what you’re craving.
Fresh ingredients are clearly a priority here, too, and that really shows in how consistent the food turns out.
The only downside is that the food temperature can be a bit inconsistent.
