The Best Day Spas in San Diego: Top 5 Spots to Recharge

day-spas-in-san-diego
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Treatment Variety: We look at how comprehensive the service menu is to ensure you can find both skin treatments and massage therapy under one roof. A diverse selection helps both busy professionals and enthusiasts get complete care without visiting multiple locations.

Atmosphere and Ambiance: The interior environment must offer a quiet sanctuary that effectively blocks out the noise of the outside city. We evaluate how well the design and cleanliness support full sensory relaxation during your visit.

Staff Expertise: Having knowledgeable, certified therapists is crucial for delivering effective results and customized care. We look for teams that carefully adapt their techniques to individual physical needs and skin goals.

Value and Experience: We examine if the quality of the amenities and service level matches the overall price point. The entire visit should leave you feeling refreshed and pampered rather than rushed through an assembly line.

Between heavy work stress and a fast-paced city schedule, finding time to truly unwind can feel difficult. Sometimes a quick routine is not enough, and what you need is a deeper reset that helps both body and mind recover.

Many people build their self-care routines around consistent habits like yoga, fitness classes, or skincare treatments such as dermal fillers. Still, there are moments when a more immersive experience makes a bigger difference.

That is where a full-service day spa comes in, offering a dedicated space to relax, recharge, and restore balance.

We talked to locals, ran polls, and actually tried the spas ourselves to find the best ones in the city. Below are some of the best day spas in San Diego for a complete wellness escape.

How Much Do Day Spa Treatments Cost in San Diego?

Day spa treatments in San Diego typically cost around $100 for basic services like a quick facial, while more comprehensive or luxury spa packages can exceed $500.

Service TypePrice Range
Standard 60-Minute Massage or Facial$100 – $200
Full-Day Spa Packages$250 – $500+

1. Spa Kingston

spa-kingston

Website: https://www.spakingston.com/

Address: 2230 5th Avenue, San Diego, California 92101

Contact: 858-888-0655

Hours: Sunday-Friday 9am-7pm

If your skin needs serious, results-driven attention alongside deep sensory relaxation, Spa Kingston might be right up your alley.

They operate as a nationally certified acne clinic while still layering in things like aromatherapy and guided relaxation, so it doesn’t feel purely clinical or purely cosmetic.

The focus here is entirely on medical-grade aesthetics like oxygen facials and advanced skincare consultations tailored to your individual needs.

During my visit last month, the rose-petaled foot baths and calming spaces immediately set a beautiful tone for the morning.

But the peaceful environment can occasionally be interrupted by background laughter or hallway noise from the staff areas.

Plus, some visitors have felt the massage therapy technique was a bit inconsistent compared to the superior quality of their clinical facials.

Pros

  • Full-service menu with wellness rituals
  • Certified acne care specialization
  • Luxurious aesthetic environment
  • Personalized skincare consultations

Cons

  • Inconsistent massage technique
  • Occasional noise disruptions

This  place is beautiful

Wonderful spa day yesterday at Spa Kingston. This place is beautiful. The staff was so friendly & inviting. The massage with Eric was very relaxing & a facial with Claire left my skin glowing. If you’re local or traveling to San Diego, definitely make an appointment here you won’t be disappointed.

We left happy and relaxed

I scheduled a couples massage for Valentine’s Day and was not disappointed. Our therapist were accommodating and highly skilled. We left happy and relaxed. Can’t wait to visit San Diego again and visit Spa Kingston for our next massage.

2. Whispering Day Spa

whispering-day-spa

Website: https://www.whisperingdayspa.com/

Address: 3969 Fourth Avenue, Suite 209, San Diego, CA 92103

Contact: 619-770-1820

Hours: Monday – Sunday 10 AM–6 PM

Finding a spot that balances intensive muscle recovery with revitalizing skin health can transform your entire routine. Whispering Day Spa targets this exact need by offering a dual focus on therapeutic wellness and complete body relaxation.

They offer clearly designed packages for couples or solo treatments, giving the whole session a more intentional flow that addresses stress and physical fatigue together.

The treatment rooms do feel like a quiet sanctuary overall, but outside traffic does interrupt the sense of stillness at times due to the open-window setup.

The lighting also feels a bit too bright for deeper relaxation, which changes the mood compared to a darker, more cocooned spa environment.

The environment can also feel a touch warm depending on the afternoon sun, so you might want to request a cooler space before your treatment begins.

Pros

  • Dual focus on recovery and relaxation
  • Comprehensive body and skincare treatments
  • Packages available for couples or groups
  • Strong emphasis on relieving physical stress

Cons

  • Audible outside traffic noise
  • Excessively bright room lighting

Provided amazing services

My friends and I were in town for a wedding and decided to go do a spa day. None of us were disappointed at all. The space was clean, the staff was amazing and provided amazing services. Myself being an esthetician and massage therapist was blown away with how amazing my facial and massage was. I also loved interacting with the owner at the end and told her about my experience as a service provider myself and loved our conversation. If and when I am back in the San Diago area, I will be booking my services here!

One of the best spa experiences I’ve ever had

They made a day that wasn’t going my way into one of the best spa experiences I’ve ever had. The massage was by far superior to the average massage. I feel that it helped make me healthier.

3. Perfect Day Spa (Hillcrest)

perfect-day-spa-hillcrest

Website: https://www.perfectdayspas.com/

Address: 1029 University Ave San Diego, CA 92103 United States

Contact: 619-891-7300

Hours: Monday – Sunday 10 AM–9:30 PM

Perfect Day Spa focuses on a highly personalized, intention-based approach to wellness, where treatments are adjusted to match your specific physical goals.

They tailor everything from massage pressure to skincare treatments, which makes the experience feel more individualized rather than a one-size-fits-all routine.

Being located in the Hillcrest area also adds convenience, especially with the wide range of services they offer, from deep tissue work to detailed facials.

A close colleague of mine recently booked a session and felt the customization during the treatment was genuinely strong and well thought out.

One downside is that communication during sessions can feel inconsistent, with limited verbal feedback from staff while the treatment is happening.

Some guests have also reported rushed finishing steps or unexpected therapist changes mid-session, which can disrupt the overall sense of continuity and relaxation.

Pros

  • Tailored intention-based wellness treatments
  • Broad service variety, including beauty care
  • Convenient central Hillcrest location
  • Deep tissue and relaxation options

Cons

  • Inconsistent communication during services
  • Sudden mid-session staff changes

Great service, professional staff

Perfect Day Spa was such a great experience. Larry was super welcoming and made everything easy from the start. Daisy was amazing, she really listened to my problem areas and gave me one of the best massages I’ve had.

I left feeling totally relaxed and refreshed. Great service, professional staff, and very affordable. Ask for Daisy! I’ll definitely be back❤️😁

4. Aqua Day Spa

Website: https://www.aquadayspaconvoy.com/

Address: 4637 CONVOY STREET STE 105 SAN DIEGO, CA 92111

Contact: 858-279-8889

Hours: Sunday – Saturday 8:30 AM – 9:00 PM

Escaping the daily grind sometimes requires a completely different approach to thermal wellness and full-body detoxification. Aqua Day Spa introduces an authentic Korean bathhouse experience centering around a traditional thermal circuit and gender-separated facilities.

This venue features a complete hydrotherapy system with cold plunge tubs alongside unique healing spaces like their Himalayan salt room.

The intensive body scrub and oil massage model delivers excellent skin renewal while the strict phone-free policy helps you completely unplug.

Some visitors, though, have raised questions about the sanitation practices regarding their porous body scrubbers. Even though the staff clarifies that all tools are disinfected, the setup might still cause concern if you are highly sensitive to hygiene protocols.

Pros

  • Authentic Korean bathhouse model
  • Complete hot and cold hydrotherapy
  • Unique salt and clay rooms
  • Intensive exfoliating body scrubs

Cons

  • Scrubber sanitation concerns
  • Strict communal environment protocols

I love aqua day spa

I love aqua day spa. Such a relaxing environment and the body scrub with massage is heavenly. I always leave with super soft skin and feeling like all my sins were scrubbed away lol. There is a sauna, steam room, hot tub, cold plunge pool and Himalayan salt room for you to enjoy before and after services. They also have toothbrushes, razors, hair dryers and brushes if you need them. You are given a locker with key, a basket for your things, two towels and a robe. The prices are reasonable and making an appointment is fairly easy.

Everything is good

Aqua Day Spa is where I love to go for sauna and massage. I’ve been coming here for many years, and it’s tough to choose another place. Everything is good – they have three saunas, a small jacuzzi, and skilled masseuses. If there’s ever an issue, they always try to fix it promptly.

5. Karma Wellness

karma-wellness

Website: https://www.karma-wellness.com/

Address: 3969 1st Avenue, San Diego, 92103

Contact: (619) 299-9888

Hours: Monday-Sunday 10 AM – 10 PM

Karma Wellness operates more like a science-driven wellness center than a traditional spa, focusing on nervous system regulation and longer-term physical optimization.

They use structured, goal-based programs that guide guests through different therapies. They offer cold exposure rooms, red light therapy, and other recovery-focused environments, which gives the whole experience a more intentional flow.

They also combine hands-on treatments like massage with movement and restorative practices such as meditation and sound healing, which makes it feel more integrated than a typical one-off session.

One downside is that the hands-on treatment quality can vary depending on the therapist, with some guests reporting rushed or uncomfortable massages.

There have also been occasional booking issues, including shortened sessions and some confusion when trying to resolve those errors with management.

Pros

  • Advanced science-backed healing model
  • Guided multi-room environment circuit
  • Integrates massage with movement classes
  • Flexible membership and single-visit options

Cons

  • Variable therapist massage quality
  • Occasional booking and timing errors

Everyone is always friendly and professional

I’ve been coming to Karma spa Hillcrest for a while now.  Today I did a 1 hour Swedish massage and mini scalp treatment with Lisa and it was exactly what I needed.  I love that Karma is open in the evening and I can usually get an appointment even if I call that day! Everyone is always friendly and professional. Highly recommend!

Best spa in SD

I left my 11k gold chain in the room. Lisa my massage therapist returned it to the front desk and I picked it up the next day. Not only are the massages top notch, fairly priced but the therapists are honest! Best spa in SD
