We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Specialist Credentials: We prioritized practices led by board-certified professionals with extensive surgical training. Ensuring the surgeon has dedicated expertise in implantology guarantees a higher standard of clinical care for your procedure.

Technological Advancements: Clinics using cutting-edge diagnostic tools like 3D scanners were given higher consideration. Modern equipment significantly improves surgical precision and minimizes patient discomfort during the healing process.

Success Rates: We examined the documented track records of each facility over multiple years. A high statistical success rate offers patients peace of mind regarding the longevity of their investment.

Patient Comfort: The availability of comprehensive sedation options played a crucial role in our assessment. We wanted to ensure that individuals with severe dental anxiety could undergo treatment in a relaxed, stress-free environment.

Address: 9339 Genesee Ave #150, San Diego, CA 92121

Contact: 858-358-6782

Hours: Mon – Fri: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Nuvia Dental Implant Center stands out by delivering a final, permanent zirconia set of teeth just 24 hours after surgery. While traditional methods rely on breakable acrylic temporary dentures for months, their proprietary process provides highly durable, permanent teeth almost immediately.

I spoke with a close friend who underwent this exact procedure, and she was amazed by how quickly she returned to a soft-food diet.

Nuvia’s approach includes a full expert team at no extra cost, meaning you get a CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) to handle your sedation seamlessly.

However, it’s important to note that not everyone who walks in is medically cleared for this accelerated process. You will also need to attend mandatory follow-up appointments to ensure proper bone integration.

Pros

  • Final permanent teeth in 24 hours
  • Eliminates fragile temporary dentures
  • Impressive 99.1% documented success rate
  • Professional sedation included at no extra cost

Cons

  • Not all patients are medically eligible
  • Strict post-surgery follow-up visits required

Website:https://www.sandiegooralsurgery.com/

Address: 6386 Alvarado Ct, Ste 110 San Diego, CA 92120

Contact: (619) 287-5000; [email protected]

Hours: Mon – Thu: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM; Fri: 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM

Led by dual-degree, board-certified oral surgeons, The Oral Surgery & Dental Implant Specialists of San Diego brings hospital-level surgical expertise directly to your complex implant needs.

They use advanced 3D digital treatment planning to bypass uncomfortable traditional molds, mapping your entire procedure with high accuracy. For patients worried about relying on opioids post-surgery, their non-opioid EXPAREL option provides reliable, long-acting pain relief.

Many patients appreciate their minimalist office aesthetic, which actively calms nerves the moment you step through the door. It feels far less clinical than what one might expect, which is comforting if you usually need to consult psychotherapists for deep-seated medical anxiety.

The main drawback is their somewhat restrictive operating schedule, closing quite early in the afternoon and entirely on weekends.

Pros

  • Hospital-based residency training for complex cases
  • Wide range of anesthesia and sedation choices
  • Three accessible locations across the region
  • Focuses on long-term jawbone preservation

Cons

  • Closes early on weekday afternoons
  • No weekend appointment availability

Customer Reviews

Wow! Truly outstanding dental care. Tooth extraction and implant are no small matters, but this team made the entire process seamless and nearly painless. From the advanced equipment to the skilled staff and excellent techniques, everything was top-notch. Thank you Dr Shelton and team!

This office is friendly, professional and clean as gold. Dr. Koshgerian was recommended to me by my dentist and I am so grateful. He is personable, warm and explained every detail of the procedures needed, helping me to feel safe to proceed. My recovery after the first phase of implants was speedy due to my following his instructions to the T. I highly recommend Dr. Koshgerian and The Oral Surgery and Dental Implant Specialists.

If you prefer a streamlined, all-in-one solution, Dental Implant Centers is spearheaded by Dr. James Khazian, who brings over 30 years of highly focused implantology experience to the practice. Because he handles everything from the initial surgery to the final porcelain teeth under one roof, you never have to jump between different specialists or deal with miscommunications.

This continuous care model provides immense peace of mind, especially knowing he holds elite Fellow status with the ICOI (International Congress of Oral Implantologists).

I personally visited this clinic last year to accompany a family member, and the direct attention from a single expert throughout the entire process was remarkably reassuring.

It’s worth noting, however, that because the practice is highly specialized, you cannot rely on them for routine family checkups or basic cleanings.

Pros

  • Immediate loading for same-day smile results
  • Uses advanced 3D CT diagnostic mapping
  • Relaxing sleep dentistry options available
  • Direct continuity of care from one doctor

Cons

  • Doesn’t offer routine family dental services

San Diego Dental Implants & Periodontics offers a distinct advantage by pairing the expertise of a board-eligible periodontist with an impressive volume of high-level surgical experience.

Having personally placed more than 12,000 implants, Dr. Jay Akef provides true same-day restorations alongside comprehensive in-house preparatory work like sinus lifts and bone grafting. This effectively eliminates the hassle of outside referrals, ensuring your gum health and tooth replacement are managed cohesively.

Before stepping into an oral surgeon’s office, some people check out Invisalign providers hoping for a less invasive fix, but severe missing teeth require this level of targeted, long-term structural care.

While their streamlined multi-specialty care is brilliant, the clinic operates on a very compressed four-day schedule, remaining closed Friday through Sunday.

Pros

  • Simultaneous treatment for gum disease and implants
  • High-accuracy digital treatment planning
  • Exclusively uses FDA-approved implant materials
  • Offers personalized financial payment plans

Cons

  • Unavailable for appointments Friday through Sunday
  • Compressed operating hours challenge standard schedules

Customer Reviews

I always receive great care and support from Dr. Akef. I recently had a problem and just walked into his office. He took the time to take me in right away, even though he was fully booked. He is a very trustworthy and knowledgeable doctor in implants and his office has all the necessary equipment to diagnose without having to send you somewhere else for the procedure. I highly recommend him.

I have had superb results with all my extensive dential services performed by Doctor Akef and his staff. Top level skills, advanced equipment, caring staff. Everthing one wants in Dentistry. From full arch implants, extractions, and cleanings, I have been well cared for. I recommend this office for all of your dental needs.

5. San Diego Periodontics & Implant Dentistry

Website:https://sdperio.com/

Address: 4060 Fourth Ave Suite 303, San Diego, CA 92103

Contact: (619) 543-0905; [email protected]

Hours: Mon – Wed: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM; Thu: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM; Fri: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Focusing heavily on integrated, multi-disciplinary care, San Diego Periodontics & Implant Dentistry is guided by a board-certified specialist with dual degrees in bioengineering and biochemistry. This rich scientific background translates into an incredibly advanced regenerative approach, using specialized laser technology to actively regrow lost tissue before placing biocompatible titanium implants.

Rather than treating missing teeth as a quick cosmetic fix, Dr. Kwok treats the entire foundation of your oral health to ensure maximum osseointegration.

That said, because their priority is long-term stability and bone preservation, the surgical process here is explicitly not immediate, often requiring three to six months for proper healing.

Additionally, choosing a specialist-led procedure requires a significantly higher upfront investment compared to traditional bridges.

However, their dedication to transparent patient education and deep coordination with your existing general dentist makes this practice ideal for those who value methodical, health-focused results.

Pros

  • Advanced techniques to correct jaw deformities
  • Heavy emphasis on transparent patient education
  • Focuses on replicating the natural tooth root
  • Coordinates treatment smoothly with general dentists

Cons

  • Requires a higher initial financial investment
  • Treatment timelines often extend beyond three months

Customer Reviews

I would like to say that Dr Kennie Kwok and his office staff were just wonderfully professional and caring. I came there with a recommendation by Dr Joseph Cave. I had a tooth extraction, preparation for an implant and then after a waiting period, the implant. So I have been to Dr Kwok’s office many times and have always found it to be a high quality experience. I am happy to write this review for his practice.

Highly recommend Dr Kwok for gum graft implants. He healed 3 very severe ones without pain during implant or recovery at all. Very happy with the results and how smooth everything went.

He is very knowledgeable and helped me understand the likely root cause of my gum recession, and also explained the process in a very detailed manner
