That got him thinking, and it pushed him to make quick fixes with DIY mowing. Unfortunately, that only led to more uneven cuts and worse-looking edges.
And since I’m a paralegal who’s very much into research, he asked me for help in comparing several lawn care services in San Diego. So if you’re also dealing with unruly yards or rushed fixes, feel free to peek at our list.

Their platform also conveniently handles everything from mowing to hardscaping. We appreciate that this takes away the guesswork and saves everyone time.
And even after growing to a nationwide scale in 2021, we like that they don’t lock clients in—no contracts. The only catch is that users must typically agree to at least 3 initial cuts before they can cancel without a fee.
Nonetheless, they focus on screening and testing lawn care professionals, accepting only the top 3% to ensure their service remains highly reliable and safe.
In addition to their 48-hour service availability, we appreciate their “Done Right Guarantee,” which offers a redo or refund within five days if you’re not satisfied with the work.
As for the rates, their basic mowing starts at $19 for the first visit as a promotion. Plus, there are standard recurring rates typically ranging from $35 to $65, depending on lot size. However, if your grass is over 9 to 12 inches, you may face an overgrowth fee that can add 50 to 100% to your base price.

The team is based in Kearny Mesa, serving the country with a focus on quality over quick cuts. We also find it reassuring that they can do multiple services with guarantees, from mowing and hardscaping to irrigation and deck repair.
And because they emphasize comprehensive property care rather than budget, one-off services, their rates are typically positioned in the mid- to high-end tier.
Their recurring maintenance services range from around $150 to over $350, while yard clean-up typically costs between $400 and $1,200+. These prices can be considered competitive or on the higher end, depending on the complexity of the project.
Nonetheless, their hardscape projects are quite expensive—they can go from $5,000 to over $25,000.
Another concern we came across is feedback from a client who mentioned having difficulty communicating specific trimming requests directly to the crew. She noted that this issue is more noticeable when the owner, Clarke, is not on-site.

Surprisingly, they generally offer a more affordable and customized alternative to larger national chains. Their single treatment is priced at $50 to $100, annual plans at $300 to $900, and aeration and seeding at $350 to $900.
Just one thing, though—unlike other local full-service crews, they don’t offer mowing or edging. This company focuses strictly on lawn health, fertilization, and pest control.

More specifically, Gabriel handles quotes, work, and follow-ups himself. This includes free quotes, so there are no surprises.
Not only that, but he also visits the properties personally. We heard from a client that he’s got flexible scheduling and is more willing to shift a service day to accommodate urgent requests.
Service-wise, he specifically hits weekly maintenance for homes, Homeowners Associations (HOA), and shops across San Diego with spot-on timing and monthly billing.
The rates here are typically considered affordable and high-value in the city too. Standard mowing is priced at $40 to $65, while yard clean-up is priced at $300 to over $800.
But since the owner handles so much himself, he doesn’t have a big team to back him up if he’s overbooked or sick. Bigger projects would likely take longer to complete as well.
