1. Dk3studios

Address: 9865 Mesa Rim Rd #205
Contact: 858.437.9681
Hours: Monday-Sunday, 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Nailing your brand’s specific aesthetic takes a purpose-driven approach, not just a few quick shots. Dk3studios does this well by taking time to understand the creative goal before moving into production.
They stand out for end-to-end, all-inclusive packages, which help remove a lot of guesswork around pricing and post-production.
I recently toured their 1,200 square feet (sq ft) facility for a commercial shoot, and the fully equipped cyclorama wall was practically begging to be used.
The founder brings over 17 years of media production experience, which makes the space feel reliable for both studio and on-location shoots.
The main thing to watch is scheduling. A few clients have mentioned inconsistent operating hours, so confirm your slot before making the drive.

So talented and fun to work with
Highly experienced, 17 years in business video production and photography studio. Richard is the best and his team is so talented and fun to work with! They do everything from headshots and comp cards, to high-end commercials, video business cards, social media reels, podcast production and more! If you need to just rent a local studio in San Diego you can do that by the hour as well!

2. Hendo Studios

Address: 4898 Ronson Court, Suite E

Hours: Monday-Sunday, 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Booking a huge multi-purpose space makes sense when you’re organizing a larger video production or editorial shoot. Hendo Studios offers a 2,000 sq ft facility built as a flexible creative space, complete with a massive cyclorama wall for wider setups.
I like that it works for more than standard photography. The studio supports photo shoots, video productions, events, workshops, casting calls, and podcast recordings.
You also get practical in-house amenities, including makeup stations, high-speed internet, and lighting equipment included with hourly or full-day bookings.
That makes the setup feel convenient for teams that don’t want to haul every piece of gear themselves.
The drawback is audio. The studio isn’t soundproofed, so commercial projects with sensitive sound recording may need extra planning.

Absolutely my go-to for studio work
Multi-purpose studio has it all – have everything from multiple light setups, fog, flash photography, gels, anything. Courtney, the owner, has been more than helpful in helping me setup shots at the location pretty much every single time, and it’s absolutely my go-to for studio work in San Diego for that reason. Can’t recommend enough!

3. Sphere Self-Portrait Photo Studio

Website:https://spherephoto.com/
Address: 702 Ash St, Suite C-3
Contact: (619) 923-4551
Hours: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM; Tuesday and Thursday, 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM; Saturday-Sunday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Stepping in front of a lens can feel awkward if you’re shy or just want casual photos with friends. Sphere Self-Portrait Photo Studio removes that pressure with a self-portrait concept where you take your own professional photos using a remote system.
The private setup feels like a polished version of a photo booth, but with better cameras, lighting, and studio control.
I can see this working especially well for content creators, couples, cosplay looks, and anyone who wants a relaxed session without a photographer watching every pose.
The rooms include professional-grade cameras and lighting, so non-experts can still get clean, trend-friendly shots.
The tradeoff is guidance. Since there’s no on-site photographer directing you, results can vary. The private rooms also have strict group capacity limits.

4. Portraits By Z | San Diego Boudoir & Maternity Photography

Website:https://www.portraitsbyz.com/studio/
Address: 3211 Fifth Avenue, #202
Contact: (619) 736 8355
Hours: Monday-Sunday, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Celebrating personal milestones takes a more empathetic approach than a quick, cookie-cutter portrait session. Portraits By Z focuses on fine-art boudoir and maternity photography, so the experience feels more guided and personal.
Every session is customized around the client’s story, with a strong emphasis on comfort, confidence, and flattering pose direction.
A friend of mine booked a maternity shoot here and couldn’t stop talking about the included hair and makeup services and the studio wardrobe.
Led by photographer Zeynep Dogu, the studio seems especially strong at helping clients feel safe and supported during vulnerable shoots.
The limitation is focus. Since the studio is built around boudoir and maternity work, it’s not a fit for commercial campaigns, corporate branding, or quick headshot sessions.

Highly recommend this business to all ladies out there
Portraits By Z has been the best photography experience of my life. Zeynep is exceptionally talented, and she has made me feel fantastic with every detail she had prepared for our session. The atmosphere when I walked into her studio, the backdrop, the dresses, the way she guided me through our shoot and the beautiful pictures she took, and the mesmerizing prints she worked on all have added considerably to my experience. I highly recommend this business to all ladies out there. Thank you, Zeynep.

Makes you feel so comfortable
I had an amazing time and experience from the moment I walked into the studio until I left. I was nervous but Zeynep makes you feel so comfortable, as she guides you throughout the whole session. She makes you feel relaxed and beautiful. If you’re looking for boudoir pics and you’re not sure where to go this is the place, I highly recommend it. You’ll love the results of your photos! I did!

5. Enchanted Fairies

Website:https://enchanted-fairies.com/
Address: 3565 Del Rey St
Contact: 214-438-0074
Hours: Wednesday-Sunday, 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM (By appointment only)
Keeping young kids happy during a traditional portrait session can turn chaotic fast. Enchanted Fairies solves that by turning the shoot into a story-driven fantasy experience instead of a standard sit-and-smile appointment.
Children step into a magical setup with fairy dresses, knight outfits, and themed props, which gives them something fun to focus on during the session.
I like that parents don’t have to bring much because the wardrobe and props are already part of the experience.
The low entry cost, which includes one complimentary eight-by-ten retouched portrait per family, also makes the first session feel approachable.
The catch comes later. They run by appointment only, and full premium artwork packages can become a much bigger investment than the starter offer suggests.

A very cute studio
We had one a giveaway and I didn’t really know what to expect. Upon arrival it was a very cute studio. We met Serina, who by the way was very phenomenal, great energy, and had patience with our 3 kids that were 2 and under. It was a wonderful experience. Can’t wait to see how the photos will turn out! I’ve read the reviews on prices and how the zoom call goes, I’m hoping for a positive experience and honestly just want the one free photo that I won from the giveaway.
