The 5 Best Tire Shops in San Diego That’ll Keep Your Plans from Deflating

tire-shops-in-san-diego
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Quality of Service: We selected shops known for their skilled technicians, accurate diagnostics, and durable tire solutions to ensure consistent safety and long-term reliability.

Communication: We preferred responsive, reliable staff who provide upfront pricing, clear explanations, and honest recommendations so clients can make stress-free decisions.

Inventory: We prioritized those with a wide tire selection and popular brands in stock for immediate replacements and reduced downtime.

Turnaround: We reviewed options that typically provide fast inspections and efficient replacements, so there’s minimal waiting and disruption to your day.

A young colleague from a marketing agency I used to work for is always bouncing around social events and brand activations. Her days usually involve coordinating with vendors for event materials and setups.

But with all the driving she had to do, her car started showing wear—especially on the tires. And due to her packed schedule, she kept delaying replacements until she ended up with a near-flat before an event.

Since her preferred tire shop in San Diego isn’t always accessible, she asked me to find reliable options. She trusts me since I usually do a lot of research in my field.

I compared options based on turnaround and real feedback. So if you’re also dealing with constant driving stress or just need dependable tire support, feel free to check out our top service providers below.

1. J & M Tire Shop

j-m-tire-shop

Address: 2276 National Ave

Contact Details:

Business Hours:

  • Daily: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Website

J & M Tire Shop has been a long-running, family-owned shop since 2006. They’re a full-service automotive spot that specializes in tire maintenance and mechanical repairs.

It’s handy that they’re known for their extensive inventory of new and used tires too. That way, they’re well-equipped for a more efficient experience.

We also like that they offer free estimates and same-day flat service, making them convenient for urgent requests. You can even go here 7 days a week (including holidays), which isn’t always common at smaller used-tire shops.

Another thing worth noting is their bilingual service. They have Spanish-speaking staff in case you need one.

Their flat and leak repairs cost roughly $15 to $20 and take 20 minutes to complete. Meanwhile, a single used tire runs around $35 to $60, depending on the tread and size required. These rates are actually quite competitive in the city.

And unlike many local independent operations that only take cash, we’re stoked that the team accepts credit cards without hidden transaction fees.

However, they don’t have wheel alignment equipment, so you’ll need to go to another shop after installing new tires.

Pros

  • With around 2 decades of experience
  • Extensive new and used tire inventory
  • Same-day flat service
  • Stays open daily, including holidays
  • Accommodates Spanish-speaking customers
  • Competitive repair and tire rates
  • Takes credit cards without extra fees

Cons

  • Lacks wheel alignment machinery

Everything was better than expected

“I felt like my family was taking care of my car needs. I come from a family of mechanics and I had to get some emergency services done quick. When I called J&M to ask about their services, the gentleman on the phone was very friendly and polite. I was then referred here by another friend, I looked them up and saw the reviews, really didn’t have any reason not to try them out. Everything was better than expected, the time management, service, genuine honesty! I highly recommend J&M tire shop, they truly have been the best here in SD!”

Team Power Tires is a value-focused shop that sells both new and used tires. They even back some new tires with manufacturer warranties up to 80,000 miles.

This place carries top brands like Goodyear, BFGoodrich, and Cooper too. Still, we appreciate that they keep used tires in stock for a cheaper fix.

Their flat tire repairs cost around $15 for a professional inside-out patch, matching smaller used-tire spots while beating national chains.

Meanwhile, their used tires usually start at around $60, which already includes installation, mounting, and balancing with no extra labor fees. A set of three or four used tires also frequently costs between $195 and $240.

And by baking the mounting and balancing fees directly into their quotes, we believe they keep out-of-pocket costs lower for day-to-day walk-ins.

Moreover, they focus heavily on affordability through clear promos. For example, customers get $20 off a set of four new tires and $10 off a set of four used tires.

However, a client told us that their cheaper, used tire inventory can vary in cosmetic age. We advise checking the tire manufacturing date stamps manually before installation to avoid any issues.

Pros

  • Stocks new and used tire options
  • Backs select tires with long warranties
  • Carries trusted tire brands
  • Includes mounting and balancing in pricing
  • Affordable bundle deals and promos
  • Keeps flat repair pricing budget-friendly

Cons

  • Complaint about cosmetic wear on used tires

Overall, great experience

“Really recommend coming to team power tires. They took care of me right away after giving them a call I need all 4 new tires. Kennith explained the difference/pricing of used and new tires. Going in Jesus and Ruben were polite. Kennith went out of his way to educate me about my car as well. Most important I got a really good deal with my tires!!  Overall great experience, they’re all hard workers”

Business Hours:

  • Mon-Fri: 8:00 am to 6:00 pm
  • Sat: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
  • Sun: Closed

Website

Operating since 2007, SD Tire & Wheel Outlet is one of the largest tire-and-wheel selections in the area. The way we see it, this means better odds of finding a matching tire, a specific wheel style, or a package that fits your budget and look.

We also like that they operate as a full-service shop. Aside from tire installations, they also handle alignments, suspension, and brake work, making it convenient to get both parts and related services in one place.

And while most independent tire shops only service standard road vehicles, they also cater to larger truck applications, including off-road tires up to 37 inches.

It’s also impressive that the crew can handle complex vehicle electronic systems, such as backup camera recalibrations.

Their localized, independent pricing structure even beats both corporate auto chains and dealership service lanes.

Standard 4-wheel alignments here run approximately $109, while their full tire packages and alignment bundle cost around $407. These rates are 2 to 3 times less than those in major dealerships.

However, one interviewee reported waiting 30 to 60 minutes before her vehicle was brought onto a rack, even after calling ahead to book a specific appointment slot.

Pros

  • 2 decades in the business
  • Large tire and wheel inventory
  • Full-service repairs and installations
  • Handles off-road and oversized truck tires
  • Competitive pricing vs. dealerships

Cons

  • Potential long wait times

Always extremely helpful and goes above and beyond

“The staff at SD Tire and Wheel are always extremely helpful and will honestly tell me if they believe I need to do work on my car or if it can wait until a later date. They go above and beyond to do a great job and make sure my car is running smoothly. I’ve had a number of issues with flat tires and they were able to fix the alignment and replace my tires if needed.”

Great pricing with honest and speedy service

“Called ahead to check price and availability.  Was told to come on in and within the hour i was out! Great pricing,  honest service, and speedy service.  Manny assisted me and i will be sure to come back for any future tire and wheel needs. Thanks!”

Evans Tire is a solid, established chain-style option in San Diego. They have roots going back to 1976 and a big local footprint across the county.

Apart from typical tire sales and engine maintenance, they provide brake work, alignment, and multi-tier suspension flushes. Even better, the crew takes emergency walk-in customers and heavily markets their “4 Tires, 1 Hour” turnaround goal for efficiency.

Additionally, we like that they push all-inclusive pricing with extras like 24/7 roadside assistance included with installation.

When it comes to rates, they’re a mid-tier regional alternative that undercuts corporate giants. Their tire packages frequently run under $400 in total with zero hidden surprises.

We also like their premium value perks, including free lifetime tire rotations and flat repairs, a 24-month/24,000-mile nationwide service warranty, and 24/7 roadside assistance coverage.

Not to mention, the staff actively enforces a price match guarantee to keep price-sensitive clients.

The only thing we are disappointed about is the persistent upselling on additional parts. If you only need a basic tire drop-off, it’s best to be firm with your needs from the get-go.

Pros

  • Established chain for 5 decades
  • Full-service auto maintenance and repairs
  • Emergency walk-in tire services
  • Promotes fast “4 Tires, 1 Hour” turnaround
  • Roadside assistance with installation
  • Offers lifetime rotations and flat repairs
  • Price match guarantee

Cons

  • Reports of persistent upselling on extra services

They saved my life as I was rejected from nearby tire shops

“Great service, arrived about 20mins before closing, super helpful and willing to repair my tire. Checked all my tires, was about to travel back to mexico, they saved my life and my friends, as i was rejected from another 2 tire shops from the surroundings.”

Nan’s Tires & Wheels has been in the business since 1983 as a family-style tire shop that leans hard on value and quick service.

The team offers free quotes, same-day service, and all-inclusive tire deals, which we think makes it a strong budget-friendly option for San Diego drivers. It’s helpful for us that they carry name-brand tires too. They can work with all types of vehicles, including cars and trucks.

We are impressed by their efficiency as well. Their team is known to handle 4-tire swaps in under 20 to 25 minutes for walk-ins.

Moreover, the shop sets itself apart with its promotional tier offers. One of these is their “4 New Tires for $299” deal, which already covers everything—the tires, labor mounting, wheel balancing, and more.

Their alignment special also starts at $59, which conveniently undercuts most mid-tier regional chains.

However, they are located on a bustling section of University Avenue. Our issue is that this can make parking and waiting in line tight and hectic during busy Saturday morning rushes.

Pros

  • 30+ years of operational expertise
  • Free quotes and same-day service
  • Carries name-brand tires for various vehicles
  • Complete 4-tire swaps in under 25 minutes
  • All-inclusive budget tire packages

Cons

  • Tight parking during peak hours
