The 5 Best Cosmetic Dentists in San Diego for Stunning Smile Makeovers

best-cosmetic-dentist-san-diego
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.
  • Clinical Training and Credentials: We closely looked at the advanced certifications and continuing education history of each lead practitioner. It matters a lot that the doctors have verified training from reputable aesthetic institutes.

  • On-Site Technological Tools: Having advanced equipment directly in the office makes a massive difference in how quickly your treatment finishes. We prioritized practices that invest in tools like digital scanners and single-visit crown milling systems.
  •
  • Scheduling Flexibility: Balancing dental appointments with a busy professional calendar can be incredibly tough. We evaluated whether a clinic offers convenient early morning or weekend availability to fit into packed schedules.
  •
  • Care Personalization: A cookie-cutter approach simply does not work when you are trying to redesign your smile alignment. We searched for teams that focus heavily on one patient at a time and offer custom design pathways.

Finding the right dental team can feel incredibly overwhelming, especially when you have a major life milestone coming up like a wedding or a big promotion. Your smile is often the first thing people notice, so settling for anything less than your ideal result is not really an option.

If you’re searching for the best cosmetic dentists in San Diego, you want more than technical skill. You want an artist who understands your goals, respects your time, and delivers results that still look natural and like you.

To help narrow the choices, we reviewed top providers in the area to find dental aesthetic teams known for consistency, patient care, and strong cosmetic outcomes. Here is our look at the top options around San Diego.

If you want your smile transformation handled by a team with an in-house dental lab and dedicated ceramicists, La Jolla Cosmetic Dentistry and Orthodontics is an incredible option.

The lead practitioner, Dr. Kami Kohani, is a globally recognized educator who has taught thousands of dental professionals his advanced aesthetic techniques.

When one of our colleagues visited them for a consultation, she noted how comforting their conservative, tooth-preserving approach felt.

They also use advanced milling technology to deliver custom restorations in a single day, which saves you tons of time.

But you should know that a comprehensive smile makeover is a multi-step process that takes multiple visits to finish.

Plus, their single location on Executive Drive means you will face a serious commute if you live outside the immediate area.

Pros

  • On-site laboratory and custom ceramicists
  • Single-visit ceramic crown milling
  • Educator-level clinical leadership

Cons

  • Full makeovers require multiple visits

Customer Reviews

I originally started with Dr . Kohani years ago for his expertise in cosmetic dentistry.  Since then,  I continued with the practice for general dental care.  I’m always impressed with professional yet caring manner of the staff.  I’m so happy for Dr. Kohani that his son has joined the practice.  Quite an honor and tribute to his dad.

Special mention: Alexa and Brandie.

Absolutely recommend!! The entire staff is excellent.   My entire family uses them and now several of my friends.  My family has had orthodontics, implants, root canals, veneers, crowns and several other procedures over the years.   We have not had a single issue with any of the work that has been done.  I’ve heard such horror stories from others about their dental experience at other places.    Dr. Kahani has given me and my family  healthy confident smiles. They also have the most thorough teeth cleaning.  I couldn’t be more appreciative.

2. Dentique Cosmetic Dentistry Studio

Website: http://www.dentiquesandiego.com/

Address: 3570 Fourth Avenue San Diego, California 92103

Contact: (619) 501-3613 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 8:00am – 5:00pm; Wednesday 9:00am – 4:00pm (by appointment only); Friday 9:00am – 2:00pm

Walking into a space designed more like a luxury sanctuary than a typical clinic really changes how you feel about dental care, and this Bankers Hill studio leans heavily into that idea.

Dentique Cosmetic Dentistry Studio combines high-end hospitality with modern dental tech like advanced scanners and lasers, so it feels more like a premium wellness experience than a standard appointment.

They also offer sedation options that are geared toward reducing anxiety, which makes the whole process feel a lot more approachable for people who are nervous about dental work.

Dr. Nikou Rahbar is especially focused on porcelain veneers and full smile transformations.

We also appreciate that they lay out financing options for larger treatments in a pretty structured way, which makes the budgeting side feel more manageable instead of overwhelming.

However, navigating the street parking in this neighborhood can be incredibly challenging during peak hours.

On top of that, their popular boutique setup means appointments book out far in advance, so you have to plan ahead.

Pros

  • Specialized focus on smile transformations
  • Advanced computer-guided design technology
  • Relaxing spa amenities with sedation options
  • Structured in-house financial membership options

Cons

  • Difficult street parking in Bankers Hill
  • High booking demand requiring early scheduling

Customer Reviews

I’ve been coming to Dentique for years, and I have to say as someone who has been to many different dentists throughout the years, they have provided the best care I’ve ever received. They are very professional, and explain very thoroughly about any issues they find and what I need to do to fix them. In the office, Dr. Rahbar and Nadia have been absolutely amazing assisting me throughout the years, and everyone in the office is so welcoming and accommodating. I would highly recommend Dentique to anyone that needs any general or cosmetic dentistry work performed.

A few years ago I came to Dentique seeking Invisalign treatments, and received such great care that I’ve been here ever since! Not only is Dr. Rahbar a gifted cosmetic dentist, she and her staff provide excellent general dentistry services using state-of-the-art techniques and materials. My teeth and gums are in such great shape now that I only need to come in for biannual cleanings. I highly recommend Dentique!

3. The Art of Dentistry

Website: https://www.sandiegoartofdentistry.com/

Address: 2840 Fifth Ave, Suite 300 San Diego, CA 92103

Contact: (619) 291-4325 | (619) 373-9977

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7 AM–3 PM

Choosing a practice with deep community roots can offer a lot of reassurance, especially when it was founded by a past president of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

The Art of Dentistry is a private, fee-for-service office. It intentionally steps away from corporate-style quotas, so the focus stays on more personalized patient relationships.

In practice, that can make consultations feel less rushed and more tailored.

Doctors also smoothly coordinate with outside specialists when more complex oral surgery is needed, which adds a layer of flexibility.

They also use same-day technology to design and place crowns in the office. This helps remove the need for temporary teeth and multiple visits just for that step.

That said, out-of-pocket costs can end up being higher than expected since they don’t operate within traditional insurance networks.

And if your treatment plan involves extensive surgical prep work, you may still need to visit multiple locations across the city.

Pros

  • Elite credentials from AACD leadership background
  • Peer-reviewed track record with multi-year awards
  • Advanced same-day restorative technology
  • Highly focused core clinical skillsets

Cons

  • Higher potential out-of-pocket private costs
  • Referrals to external offices for complex surgery

Customer Reviews

I’ve been going to the Art of Dentistry and under Dr Landau’s care since morning to San Diego more than 20 years ago. Without a doubt, I have received world class care.. Dr. Landau focuses on preserving natural teeth and employs cosmetic dentistry conservatively and naturally.  Dr. Landau’s staff. Is incredibly attentive and create a very personal and inviting environment.

Dr. Landau at Art of Dentistry is nothing short of amazing at what he does. He was highly recommended by my periodontist and I’m so glad I went there. He’s a perfectionist by nature, which I need him to be for my front teeth cosmetic work. Above all, he’s incredibly patient and lighthearted which makes the experience so much smoother. There’s a whimsy energy while he works which puts you at ease and I enjoy my visits every single time.

4. Cosmetic Dentistry Center

Website: https://www.dentistrysd.com/

Address: 940 B ST San Diego, CA 92101

Contact: (619) 544-0544 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday to Friday 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM; Saturday – Appt. Only

Keeping your entire care plan under one roof is honestly a big convenience, and Cosmetic Dentistry Center seems to really lean into that kind of all-in-one setup.

The practice is led by Dr. Nathan Hornsby, who trained at Columbia University. The overall setup includes in-house specialists like a prosthodontist and an endodontist.

In a lot of ways, that makes it feel more coordinated, since you’re not constantly being referred out for different parts of the same treatment plan.

They also use tools like 3D imaging and surgical microscopy, which help map out precise placements for things like dental implants.

They also try to make the financial side less confusing. They offer membership-style plans and flat-rate pricing for cosmetic services.

Getting to their Gaslamp District location, though, can be a bit of a headache. City traffic and parking in paid garages add another layer of inconvenience.

And while they do offer weekend appointments, those slots are strictly by booking.

Pros

  • Led by an aesthetic prosthodontist specialist
  • Advanced 3D imaging and surgical microscopy
  • In-house team collaboration among distinct specialists
  • Upfront budget-friendly membership and payment plans

Cons

  • Downtown traffic and paid parking logistics
  • Restricted weekend slots by appointment only

Customer Reviews

I have been going to this office ever since I moved to San Diego and I will never switch dentists. From greeting Keith at the front desk to any hygienist to Dr. Hornsby himself the whole experience has been fabulous 💯 of the time. Highly recommend them and will continue to! …

I’ve been a patient for a long time, and it’s always been a positive experience. Dr. Hornsby and the team truly strive for perfection—he ensures that your caps are the right color and align seamlessly with your natural teeth, especially since they’re visible once the permanent caps are in place.

5. David S Eshom, DDS

david-s-eshom-dds

Website: https://www.eshomdds.com/

Address: 8899 University Center Ln #245, San Diego, CA 92122

Contact: (858) 201-4475 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday to Thursday 8:00 am – 4:00 pm; Friday 8:00 am – 1:00 pm

Slowing down the pace of dental visits really does change the experience, and Dr. David Eshom seems to build his practice around that idea by focusing on one patient at a time.

Dr Eshom also has a strong cosmetic dentistry background, serving in a leadership role within the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He uses advanced laser technology to reduce the need for needles and is known for a high level of standing among Invisalign providers.

One helpful touch is the use of visual treatment simulations on a monitor, so you can actually preview potential results before committing to any procedures.

Plus, they back their porcelain veneer restorations with a five-year guarantee.

The main drawback is really the cost, since premium cosmetic work here requires a significant financial commitment.

And even before anything starts, you need to set aside about ninety minutes just for the initial consultation, which reflects how detailed and in-depth their planning process tends to be.

Pros

  • Verified clinical credentials with AACD board role
  • Interactive visual simulations for treatment previews
  • Protective five-year structural veneer guarantee
  • Ranked status among top national alignment providers

Cons

  • High out-of-pocket costs for elective procedures
  • Long time commitment for the initial visit

Customer Reviews

Who loves their dentist who gives them shots and drills in their mouth ?  I do.  Dr Eshom is the best . another dentist said I had decay under a crown requiring a new crown.  I got a second opinion from Dr Eshom who told me I was fine — didn’t need unnecessary work.  He was my cosmetic dentist for veneers but he is now my dentist for everything.  He is skillful and honest; It doesn’t get better than that.

Dr. Eshom and his team are the absolute BEST! My husband and I have been going there for about four years now, and we will not go anywhere else! The provide quality service and impeccable care.  From cleanings to cosmetic dentistry, there is no one better!
