The 5 Best Immigration Lawyers in San Diego That Will Fix Visa-Level Stress

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Quality of Service: We selected law firms known for their legal expertise, professionalism, and consistency to ensure client success and satisfaction.

Communication: We preferred lawyers who offer well-managed scheduling, prompt replies, and reliable updates for timely communication.

Turnaround: We chose options with speedy processing and filing, so most (if not all) deadlines can be handled efficiently.

Success Rate: We reviewed those with strong success stories on approvals, outcomes, and case performance to show effectiveness in handling similar matters.

One of my pals owns a cafe I often visit. He always had a peaceful time there until a sudden immigration paperwork issue came up for one of his staff members. Soon, everything got complicated fast.

He tried to help by asking around informally, thinking it was only a simple status update. However, things got more confusing with all the conflicting advice he gathered.

That’s when he asked me, someone with family lawyer friends, to look into it properly. I then researched, made some calls, and compared different immigration law firms in San Diego.

So, after reviewing multiple options and cross-checking feedback, I finally made a reliable list. If you are also having problems immigration-wise, feel free to check this out.

How much do immigration lawyers charge in San Diego?

Immigration lawyers in San Diego typically charge from $1,500 to over $10,000. Meanwhile, hourly rates generally fall between $150 and $500. The final fees depend on the case complexity, geographic location, fee structure, urgency, and other soft costs.

Feldman Feldman & Associates PC is a strong immigration-focused boutique firm in San Diego, with broad case coverage and Spanish-speaking support.

They were founded by Lynne Feldman, who has practiced for nearly 50 years since 1978. Now a mother-son team with Jason Eric Feldman, we are in awe that they have over 8 decades of combined legal experience and more than 10,000 successful cases.

Service-wise, the staff handles a wide mix of immigration work. This includes green cards, citizenship, work permits, and the like.

They don’t publicly list their fees, but something we bet many will like is their flat-fee pricing. This gives a clear upfront cost and prevents hidden charges.

But unlike some modern, tech-enabled firms, they lean more on traditional office-based consultations and document preparation.

A client also told us that getting a non-urgent consultation here might take longer than at larger, volume firms.

Pros

  • Broad immigration case coverage
  • Spanish-speaking support
  • 80+ years of combined legal expertise
  • Broad specialization
  • Flat-fee pricing for cost clarity

Cons

  • Slower with non-urgent consultations
  • Operates with less tech-enabled convenience

Behar International Counsel is a specialized immigration-only firm. They boast a strong focus on complex US immigration work, which includes investment, employment, deportation defense, and several more.

This company is also known for its extensive international reach and high-stakes case handling. For us, this feels reassuring for those needing help with complex or escalating issues.

We also appreciate that the staff offers phone or virtual consultations 7 days a week, making them highly accessible.

On top of that, we are impressed by their massive language range. Besides English, their attorneys are fluent in Spanish, French, German, and more.

But since they are a top-tier boutique firm, their rates reflect their specialized expertise and are higher than local averages. For instance, their initial consultations cost around $200 to $300.

Nevertheless, we feel they still have room to improve on responsiveness. A client claimed that she experienced some delays and missed calls from the attorneys before.

Pros

  • Complex immigration cases
  • High-stakes, international cases
  • Phone and virtual consultations 7 days a week
  • Multilingual staff

Cons

  • Charges premium pricing
  • Misses calls, or delays replies at times

Knowledgeable, patient, and always available

“This immigration law firm provided exceptional legal support for my family immigration case. The immigration attorney was knowledgeable, patient, and always available to answer my questions. They made the complicated immigration process simple and easy to understand. Their experience in handling immigration cases was impressive. Wilner & O’Reilly is a large immigration-only firm that sets itself apart by offering personalized immigration help.

Besides that, they offer family-based petitions, employment visas, and removal defense. So if you need assistance with multiple issues, you won’t have to look for another team.

We also find it convenient that they provide complimentary telephonic consultations and payment plans to ease their clients’ burdens.

Someone we interviewed even praised them for returning calls and emails within 24 hours. This shows us how dedicated they are to making communication seamless.

You can also talk to their staff in different languages, which include Mandarin, Swedish, Spanish, and more.

Their costs are generally competitive for large-scale firms as well. Still, these fees are typically higher than those of solo practitioners or non-profit services.

Also, keep in mind that some attorneys and case managers here tackle hundreds of cases at a time. In our view, this can lead to clients working with multiple staff throughout the process, which can feel less personalized or confusing.

Pros

  • Broad immigration services
  • Free phone consultations
  • Responds quickly to calls and emails
  • Supports multiple languages
  • Competitive large-firm pricing

Cons

  • Pricier than solo or nonprofit options
  • Heavy workload can reduce client focus

Seamless and prompt communication, and very transparent

“The process was very easy at W&O, and we were able to schedule an appointment for the next day. Derek took his time reviewing our case and answered all of our questions free of charge. His communication was seamless and prompt, and he was very transparent about our specific immigration situation. I rarely write reviews but i had to share my wonderful experience with Derek.”

Hacking Immigration Law is a national immigration firm that highlights using systems to keep cases moving.

Founded in 2008 by Jim Hacking, this company emphasizes its streamlined processes. We like that this ensures speed and efficiency with their communication, follow-ups, and document submissions.

One more thing we like is that Hacking has a reputation for being exceptionally straightforward. At times, we heard that he even recommended a rival firm once if that better suited the client’s needs.

And between their YouTube channel and Facebook group, we appreciate that they provide more free educational content than almost any rival. In our book, this makes clients more well-informed, which is handy before talking to any attorney.

While this modern, medium-to-high volume practice doesn’t publish its fees, someone we reached out to described their flat-fee costs as average in the city.

There are downsides to their limited high-touch service, though. Because they prioritize efficiency, we reckon those who prefer deeply involved lawyers might find their process too transactional or automated.

Pros

  • Streamlined systems for efficiency
  • Fast communication and follow-ups
  • Submits documents quickly and consistently
  • Honest, straightforward advice
  • Can recommend better-fit firms when needed
  • Extensive free online educational content

Cons

  • Consultations can feel very transactional

So helpful and patient throughout the process

“Took 9 months from applying to getting GC. Christina and Felipe were so helpful and patient through out the process. I am glad I hired them after seeing how long and tedious this process is. One mistake would have costed me my whole immigration status. Thank you Christina and Felipe.”

  • Sat-Sun: Closed

Website

Modern Law Group is a well-established immigration firm known for its large case volume. They shine with their long history and broad immigration coverage.

Besides business and family immigration, they deal with asylum, naturalization, visas (like fiancé and marriage), green cards, and more. They have done over 10,000 cases with a high success rate, so we say they’re very capable.

They were founded in 2009 by Deron Smallcomb with over 14 years of legal experience. What adds to his credibility is that he has made multiple national media appearances (like on Dr. Phil) discussing immigration reform.

This company has a diverse team for great client support too. They are fluent in languages like Chinese, Spanish, Russian, and Tagalog.

When it comes to rates, many clients say they are affordable but a high-quality alternative to premium-priced boutique firms. They charge transparent flat fees to avoid hourly surprises. Initial consultations are free as well.

However, we feel it can be inconvenient when they change staff mid-case due to their large case volume. Some clients prefer the same points of contact from the start, so this can cause friction when it happens.

Pros

  • Broad immigration case types
  • Features credible leadership and media presence
  • Multilingual support
  • Affordable, high-quality service
  • Transparent flat fee pricing
  • Free initial consultations

Cons

  • Can sometimes change staff mid-case

Strategic, diligent, and delivers actual results

“I cannot recommend Modern Law Group enough. Our case was extremely complex, involving federal detention and a Habeas Corpus petition. The team here was strategic and diligent. Their expertise led to a successful judge’s order for immediate release. If you are looking for a firm that understands the high stakes of immigration litigation and delivers actual results, this is the one. They truly provided a lifeline when it mattered most.”

-Cliff Mbah, Google Review

Always accessible, knowledgeable, and professional

“I would highly recommend Modern Law Group to handle all your immigration needs.

Throughout my application process, my case manager Roseanne Moss made the whole  procedure seamless and so much less intimidating.  With her calm reassuring personality, coupled with always being accessible, knowledgeable and professional she facilitated my every question and concern.  There are not enough words to express my appreciation at how Ross handle my case from a human and professional perspective, as my application was brought to a successful end.  Thank you”
